Magach is a series of Israeli tanks based on M48 and M60 tanks chassis. M48 chassis are designated Magach 1, 2, 3 and 5. While M60 chassis are Magach 6 and 7. Magach 6 tanks were fitted with explosive reactive armor (ERA) and/or passive armor packages. Further Magach 6 upgrades include Merkava-based tracks, new fire controls and a thermal sleeve for the gun along with smoke dischargers. The Magach 6B Gal Batash employs an improved Gal fire control system, fitted with 4th generation passive armor as identified by the high angled turret sides and angled gun mantlet. The 908 hp engine propels the tank on the Merkava tracks or in combination with a newly designed Batash Bar style track. Since the 1980s and 1990s, the Magachs have been gradually replaced by Merkava tanks as Israel's front-line main battle tank. However, a large majority of the IDF's armored corps continued to consist of Magach variants until the 1990s, and the tank was continuously upgraded during this time.
The Academy Magach 6B will be combined with the excellent AFV Club M60A1 to produce a more accurate and detailed Magach 6B Gal Batash. The Kit will be further enhanced with the addition of the Eduard PE set and the Legend Productions Detail Set. Wolfpack Design Modern IDF Tank Track sets 1 & 2 will be combined to produce the unique mismatched track setup as seen in several reference photographs. The boresight of the main gun will be checked by an IDF crewmen provided by Djiti's Production
