Stab/KG 53 Lille Air Base, France, Summer 1940. KG 53 was named the Kondor Legion. KG 53 took part in the invasion of France & the Low Countries in 1940 before being moved to Poland in June 1940. On 1 July it was moved again; taking an active part in the Battle of Britain including The Hardest Day on 18 August and the raid on 15 September known as Battle of Britain Day.
