It is true that some parts of the kit are a little antiquated but the tyres are surprisingly advanced. Excellent tread pattern that I hope to be able to do justice with painting. The interior is very meh - a token gesture with no relation to reality. I hope I can make this a really nice little kit. I would highly recommend this for anyone new to hobby.

The interior looks pretty sweet. I have always been curious about the need for a sleeper on a tow truck. I suspect all towing companies stay local. I do not imagine there is a high demand for long haul towing.

The windshield is not an isoscelles triangle so the windshield has not a 45 degree ángel over the capot. Please, see these example of a TA-152 (and please, mind It is 35 years old and I was only 13 when I drestroyed It).
I think an easy solution can be made. I do not want any mate to be anoyed by an engineering issue. I had them everyday (it's my job, Factory engineering problem solving, known as 'shit managing") and It can destroy your mojo.

Your mojo works, mate! Now you have became a great problem solver!
On the other hand, I think another 3D engineering guy needs to stop drinking and 20 years of 2D drafting. The fitting is worse than I could imagine. But I see is no a problem for a seasoned mate like you. Great work, mate!

Following. I build this kit several times in older versions. The fit of the canopy is realy sh*t. My solution was (with about 10 years) to sand the backside of the windshild till it fitted. Of corse so most of the frame is missing.

Thanks you, Skyhiker: I think I can remember now, as I researched about FW190 and TA152 black in the 90's. Also, canopy is bubble-shapped. Sorry, my FW190 Mustang have been gone forever, I expent the night trying to find It, just to find my solution, but I think only the reta of the TA152 has survived.

Mr D did you also have so much trouble with the canopy? I read in the kit review at the bottom of the page that it was bad. I really wish the reviews would be moved up because I always forget about them. It took me quite a while to get the canopy to work. It needed a lot of reshaping to look right.

Hi, yes l had trouble too, l did a dry fit before paint, and l had to take a combination off the glass n some off fuselage, and had to use a bit of UV clear resin.
I got it to fit in the end, but it's not very clear to see through.
I had a bit missing of my engine fan too, had to make it up with super glue gell.

Built one too back in the day, the nightfighter version. Speaking of the canopy, I like how the rear part of it is just molded to the fuselage 😄. Used some other canopy I found in my spares because the one from the kit was entirely unusable.

It's a nice model when it's finished once you sort the shortcomings out.
I did get my prop to spin in the end....had to do alot of work to the cooling fan to make it run smoothly.
Good luck on next steps 😃👍

If I had thought it would have been a problem I would have dry fitted everything first. But I wanted to keep the parts on the sprue for painting. It wasn't worth messing up the paint job just to get the propeller to spin. Especially since the contact points were so fragile. So in the end I glued it together so it will be stable.

Quite a few little fragile bits on the bottom... I was extremely cutting n sanding these.
Like the way the guns are visible through wheel well's👍

Mr D, the Morane antenna I built by filing down a wooden toothpick and super gluing a hog's hair on to it that I got from a cheap brush. The kit part was ridiculously out of scale. I use this hog's hair method for whip antennas and static dischargers because the hair is flexible enough that it won't break off.

Thx for you feedback 🙂🙂
The entire interior is lined with upholstery, which is primarily used for noise-insulation. Until yesterday, I broke my head because I didn't know how to repicate it… After a conversation with a mate (thx Hanno), the brilliant idea came to me: Fimo clay.
The material can be processed excellently and is solid in the oven after 30 minutes at 130°. The most important thing is that it does not become bone-hard but left elastic and can even be sanded.

This morning I was curious and unpacked the chassis of Jam-Screw. As already written, the quality is outstanding. But everything is so filigree that you have to be very careful and not to break anything when handling. I had to improvise a bit here and there. In the end, I was finished after 2 hours. Including preparation for laying the cables.

Danke fürs Lob Tom. 🙂.

Thank you for the big praise. I am very happy to have such a large number of fans of this WIP.🙂🙂

A waterproof green rubber mat is laid on the cabin floor of the SeaKings of the German Navy. However, not under the equipment rack and not in the area of the „shower cabin" (radaroperator workstation). There, the rubber mat was left out, shortened and folded upwards.
At the points of the mountingpoints and other hatches, access covers (probably also made of rubber) are incorporated into the rubber mat.

After completing the engine housing I begun today detailing the bottom.
Just as on the fuselage sides, the equipment on the bottom of the Mk41 is different from the british variants.

The level of detailing on this thing is simply too notch. Number of bits you have added must be in the thousands! Masterclass 👍 👍👍

Thank you for the last wave of such nice comments. I have the last big hurdle to taken: installing clear parts for the cockpit without mess.
LG B

I have hardly any experience with 3D printed parts, especially concerning the flexibility. The material used by Jam-Screw is quite brittle. Therefore, I decided to disconnect the axles and insert a wire. This also has the advantage that you can align the wheels precisely afterwards, especially because they are flattened.

Thank you mates. 🙂
Result of a modeling mini task: DIY FOD covers.
I wanted to be very „smart" and install the exhaust pipes from the outside after painting. I overlooked that the opening in the fuselage is much smaller than the „hidden" end. Therefore, I had to improvise: I sawed off the outer end and inserted them obliquely from the outside.

As usual I installed the door without glueing via 2 x piece of 0,26 mm wire. I drilled 2 holes (0,24 mm) from outside through the door into the fuselage.
Who can find the two places? 🙂

And I learned recently during my visit in Oberursel museum (reported that on SM) how the filter works, which you show in pic260.

Good morning Aaron,
thank you for the praise! That was indeed a great experience for me in Nordholz to see the 89+63 live on friday. 🙂I would have liked to see the Seaking in flight on saturday🙁
The decals have been created by a modeling-friend exclusively for me and our Seaking task force 🙂.

In the last week I actually managed to instal all the parts without mess, breakdowns and disasters on the fuselage.
Although I am not finished yet (the parts for the rotor have not yet arrived from Australia) I wanted to share some photos of the details with you. 🙂
At this point I would first like to say thank you to my 4 modeling friends, without whom this project would not be possible.
To Thomas for his great photos that left no questions unanswered.
To David for his support by creating the outstanding decals.
To Felix for his boundless knowledge of helicopters and his tireless answers to my countless questions.
Last but not least to Carsten for his efforts in the creation of the seat cushions and his communication with the former technician of the Seakings: so I had „access" to hundreds of pages of the service manual, which a normal mortal does not get to see.🙂

Better job on the nose shaping now, it was probably quite dependent on front aero due to wing position and design.

After watching the review on the HobbyBoss kit I can definitely say they are very similar. HobbyBoss did correct a few things such as the landing gear doors which are a little bit better but still not correct, their decals are better although not 100% accurate. They also seem to have added a few small details that I haven't seen on the original plane and are probably fictional. The nose is still not correct even though on their box art it is and are they are missing the weapons bay. So, I wouldn't say that either kit is better.

It's worth giving these different techniques a try, if it works it's a good learning curve for you and others, nothing ventured nothing gained.
I looked at the HB kit it would probably have some advantages, but front would need to correcting at very least.
Always fun to watch you build 😀👍

Thanks Mr D. I've also noticed that the engines are a bit too long on the kit. I will look at them tomorrow and see what I can do to fix them. A 1:144 version would be fun I think. Just try not to get too concerned about it being accurate or you may end up like me; slow and steady.

Probably why a 1:144 limits the likelihood of that 🙄🤣
Looking good here though... For this model it's definitely worth the time l think.
How did the embossed engine interior go ?

The embossed engine interior worked out well. But I still have to paint it with metallic so we will have to see what it looks like then.

I must say I am rather pleased with how the tail fin wiring went. I wasn't sure if I could get it to work but it looks like the original.

It does look good 👍 l think it's good thing you are doing the improvement as it is good reference to help others in future.
I just got my delivery of my Trumpeter 1:144 Mig-25P it's quiet big aircraft looking at photos it appeared to have similar engine interior to the one you made up, not sure if they had same engines ??

Congratulations on getting your Mig-25P. I look forward to watching you build it. The Mig has Soyuz Tumansky R-15BD-300 turbojet engines, while the Su-47 has Soloviev D-30F11 afterburning turbofan engines with 3-dimensional thrust-vectoring nozzles. The Su-47 was probably the best acrobat to ever fly in the air. Unfortunately dog fighting turns are not very useful when you're blown out of the sky from a heat seeking missile that was shot from miles away.

Hi Skyhiker 👋, hope the project is going well , do you use the masking tape to create raised area's?? If so do you cost in super glue to seal in ??
Always keen to learn new techniques.
Ps lve got the Trumpeter 1:44 on order..... Couldn't resist 🤣

Mr D., my work has been taking up a lot of my time this month. The Tamiya masking tape is used for subtle raised elements. If it is sprayed with a primer it should be able to hold for years without glue as long as the surface is clear of oils before priming and you don't handle the model too much. Normal household masking tape will not work as it has a tendency to fall off with time.

Thanks for watching, and for the likes. Currently in the process of joining the fuselage together, which will need some filling, sanding, and reisntating corrugations.

Thanks gorby! So far so good. The Hasegawa/Hobby 2000 kit goes together really really well. It's been a pleasant surprise after some of the last kits I've worked on with fit issues.

Thanks for following along guys! Progress is a little slow as I'm working on a parallel Hs 129 build that involves a lot of CMK and Aires aftermarket, along with Taurus engines. Once the wings are on though, I should be able to move the two builds along fairly quickly.

I screwed up with them (and I did already have these). Pins wouldn't stay in and put a drop of tamiya on them which locked them up, so stupid mistake on me. I think the proper things would be a drop of CA instead.

Gel-type superglue is probably best: it won't run down along the pin and lock things up, but it will keep the pin in the link.

I kept a single RS Models P-39 kit, the right choice regarding your analysis ! 😉

Thanks guys - canopies on and interior frames painted today, also got the .50 gun pods on each - Academy and Arma are both too small and too narrow if anyone uses them. More pictures after first upper color coats
