Hi Guy, thanks.
The Fundekals are really great to work with. And the online instructions are phantastic and very detailed.
Highly recommended!

Wow, Phabulous Phantom! As much as I like a good SEA camo job, she looks amazing in ADC grey.

Thank you. It was a fun build, but definitely had more wheels than I ever care to deal with again. 🙂

Each one of the wheels is a beauty! As is the whole build of course! You did a very good job and I would like to see more pictures. 👍

All the brake and suspension air lines are doing my head in. Is there a better way or order to install them rather than the way on the instructions?

I used lead wire instead of the kit vinyl tubing. That alone made it much easier to position. Instead of trying to actually run hoses through tight places where they pass out of sight and then reappear (i.e. the oval plate where two hoses pass through on each bogie), install the plates first, and then simply run the lead wire hose up to the plate on each side. This gives the appearance that the hose is one continuous piece. And eliminates the hassle making the hose fit behind the plate.

I got this kit as a Christmas gift when I came back to the modelling hobby. At first, I felt enthusiasm and nostalgia, the original Su-25K 1/48 kit from OEZ was one the best ones I had the pleasure to build as a teenager loooong time ago. But then the reality hit - the SMER release is nowhere near as good as I remember the original OEZ kit, it looks like they changed the original moulding a bit and definitely weren't keeping it maintained properly. The amount of flash is astounding and on some of the elements it was almost indistinguishable where the actual part ends and what is the flash you need to remove. The white plastic feels "weird", it's very soft, you can shape it easily but I have some doubts if the Tamiya extra thin cement wouldn't have some longer-term effect on it... The general fit is not great, feels a lot like a short run kit. It's definitely not for the heart fainted...
Anyway, I didn't want to let my original gift-giver down and took the challenge head-on! The Eduard's PE sets add a lot of details that are otherwise poorly represented or missing completely. I'm not going to open the canopy so the original equipment + the interior PE set will do just fine here. I am also going to purchase the FOD covers and RBF sets from Quickboost, as it would take an inadequate time for me (not mentioning my lack of the skill required to do that 😄) to model the engines and other details, they will be covered.
I'm pretty sure once (and IF) I finish this fella I'll be so happy to come back to my Eduard or Tamiya stash items (someone called models like that one very good for keeping your "Tamiya appreciation factor" high, I cannot agree more 🙂 ).

Great progress so far. Coming back to the hobby feels really good, taking a seat on the Frogfoot build 👍

Fix request:
When Stash is exported to CSV, the 'Bought on' column uses Date field which is likely to be '0000-00-00', instead I suggest to use the 'Added to SCM Stash' value which always has date and time value.
It will be very useful to sort and analyses data by date.
Thanks!

some people (Not me) may have populated the field of when they purchased them, and may not want to see the aaded day. maybe having both would be an option, specially for those that did not add the purchase date

When I add an item I see 'now' date displayed and for this reason I skip adding it manually.

I enjoyed looking at your pictures and reading the descriptions. My very first car, was a mini. I believe, it was actually an 850, but that's a long time ago. After that fell apart, I had a 1000, like yours. I loved both cars. I remember a grille, in the passenger side wing, where the radiator is. I definitely don't remember any cowling, between them both? I also remember the SU carburettor, but I don't remember the air filter? I probably removed them, to make the engine sound beefier? The rear door pockets, I do remember. I also remember the radio being on the passenger side, because the heater was in the middle. I always wanted 8 spoke alloy wheels for mine, but they were well out of my price range. On my second one, I had a key operated, Selmar Alarm, along with automatic electric aerial. That was fixed in the front wing. Thanks for the memories, my friend 🙂

Yes there was also a Clubman with a different nose and a 1200 cc engine. The radiator had an open grille behind the left front wheel. The engine in the model is of a Cooper, which was slightly different. The driver mirror was also different and it had sliding front windows, which our car didn't have. But it was a great car and lovely to drive. Happy memories!

Many thanks!
@Martin: yes, the silver coating is rubbish. Don't know why Tamiya did this. I sanded it all off, along with the many seams on the body anyway. 🙂
