gorby you'r a brave one for sure, i wouldn't attempt this in 35th scale let alone 48th. however the end result is beautiful, well worth the trouble me sez! 👍👍👍

Thanks Murad. I'm not sure about brave. Maybe if I knew what I was taking on. Foolish would be much more appropriate. 🙂

Thanks Rui, John & Simon. 🙂
It really is an excellent kit - but make sure you carefully read the instructions and engage your brain as it's easy to stuff it up.

Gorby: it´s the result and the qualitiy that count, all´s well that ends well! May be your early quick builds were not quite as good as the late ones?

Thanks mates I'm glad you like it.
Neuling: One day I might get to be as good a modeller as you. Obliviously it won't be in this lifetime...perhaps the one after next. 😄

Nice build, Gorby!
Any problems with zimmerit during priming? Which primer did you use?

Oh, man! After seeing all the trouble you had with interior it's cool that you didn't drop the build.

Thanks mates. 👍
Random Penguin: I used a cheap rattle-can plastic primer from Halfords (a car accessories retailer) without any problems at all – other than the Zimm decals are quite brittle.
I never give up on a build – don't think 'cool' think 'unhealthy obsession'. 😉

I fixed the zimmerit on my kit by melting it down with plastic glue, so I wasn't sure if it would hold up to a can of primer. But since you say that everything is OK, then I probably will try. It's a pity I don't have much left of zimmerit except for Suyata's logo - there is almost nowhere to check how the chemistry will react with it.

It didn't occur to me there would be a problem with the primer and fortunately there wasn't. Give it a go and you'll probably find the same.
(PS If it's a disaster, I can delete this comment can't I?) 😄

I might need to give it some time until the mental scars heal. 😄
I'm more into 1/72 armour now (it's all Zsolt's fault I tell you!) and if anyone suggests building a 1/72 tank with an full interior, I won't be responsible for my actions. 😉

Really liking the results, Gorby 🙂 Your notes and comments ring true for soo many of us, I'm sure 🙂 Ah, impetuous youth, where are you now...? Our discerning 'eye' is so much more developed, I'm sure, but the satisfaction of doing a nice job is the same 🙂 (I still kick myself when clumsy fingers break off fragile parts.....)

John: I've concluded that any right-thinking person would agree that a tank model with a full interior is a ludicrous concept at whatever scale – 1/72 & 1/76 scale doubly so. Obviously if you don't agree I'm not going to categorise you as right thinking and therefore can be safely ignored. 😉
Thanks Bruce, I've reached the stage where I know when gluing a fragile part on that it's without doubt going to get broken off at some later point in the build. I find it always helps to have some favourite swear words on hand.

Thank you mates! WhiteGlint, That's an interesting Catapult you have. I have it in mind for my future builds, but more classic design, that reminds me the blockade runner.

Thanks, Dmitri. 🙂
While the classic designs do have their charme I really love the new design they went for with Battletech/Mechwarrior.
I can not describe it, but for me they check all the boxes.
Looking forward to your progress. 👍

WhiteGlint, I agree they did a great job, hiring those artists to redesign the mechs. I do love new designs, especialy the Atlas, Battlemaster and King Krab, but some of them in classic appearance are realy forever in my heart. They are Maradeur, Longbow, Awesome and Catapult(which I like in both designs).

Oh yes, new Atlas and King Crab are beasts.
My personal favourites are the Bushwacker, Marauder and Catapult. While there are good 3D files for the latter two I am still hoping for a good Bushwacker some day.
Though, I'd prefer normal model kits. 😄 Plastic is easier to work with than resin.

Camo reminds me a bit of a German Tank, like a Panzer IV with "summer camouflage".
The different colours on the joints add a lot to visual interest.

Many thanks my friends, glad you like the build. WhiteGlint, the camo indeed looks like the germans had, but I was inspired by south african mercenaries of 70's , they had similar camo and colors. I had long time idea about battletech mercenary company with african flavour.

I have 3d printed some of the torso upgrade parts, and recasted them of resin. Now the interesting part (installing them).

The 3d resin is a fragile, I prefer to work with polyurethane resin. So it's just a matter of personal preferences.

Very nice! I have this kit also as well as the Warhammer (Tomahawk). Who did you contract out to do your PE and 3D prints? I'd like to get some.

Tim, Chip, thank you mates! I played Mechcommander in late 90's early 2000's for 10 years from time to time, so it was a great game. Chip, 3d prints are done by myself as well as PE design, and PE sheet made by one Russian company producing photo-etch, sorry I will not name them.

Thanks! 😄 I think the plastic is pretty nice. Not too soft and not too hard, but maybe closer to hard. The kit itself is challenging. Seemingly pretty detailet parts with rivets and all, but the fitting is bad. I have already lost some rivets due smoothing seams and filling gaps.

Cher Jiel, the kit is available. I am out of the country until Oct the 16th, and only than will be able to estimate the shipping costs to France. Until then, the kit is reserved for you, no compromise at all. Shipping should be anywhere between 5 to 7€ with tracking. PayPal is fine.
