Nice 👍 very nice, the cast texture on the engine looks good, it's the prv V6 is it ?
I had an RC version as a kid .
Will look fantastic when the decals go on.

The cast texture is Tamiya flat aluminium XF-16 very poorly sprayed by me haha, I think it was drying on its way from the airbrush to the surface and kind of built up.

Had this on my shelf staring at me for a couple of months. This comes with a ton of PE, so lets see how much I can enjoy it.

Lowering the HUD is your best and easiest option. Also, I'd test fitting the seats (and pilots if any)

So I ran into a bit of a fitting issue. However I don't think it is the kits fault and I can really only blame my own laziness. Okay, maybe also the instructions..
The cockpit does not fit anymore with all the PE parts in it because I only scraped off the surface structures of where the PE instrument panels go instead of also filing off a good bit of the plastic below to compensate for the additional thickness of metal. In my defense, the instructions don't mention any of that...

Hello there S M and Bas 🙂
I have already test fitted the seats and they don't fit. It's really tight in there but in this case has nothing to do with the PE parts. The seats just need to have a bit filed off on the sides to get them in.
I am probably going to rip it apart again and redo the whole thing. Not just for the cockpit but for some other issues (blame my laziness again lol) that need fixing.
Thanks to the magic of this being a Dual Combo I won't even need to buy a new kit..

Hi, so far, so good.
I think, your problem is the incorrect alignment of part A10. It is too steep.

Hi Neo, thanks, you are correct, it was incorrect alignment 🙂
Tip to anyone interested in building this:
The fuselage has ejector marks on the inside in the cockpit area. Remove those, unless you really like fitting issues.
The alignment pins of the fuselage also don't align very well. Remove those too.

Good advice! 👍 I have wanted to build one of these, but I want to make Estonian version.

Some more updates:
As mentioned, I had to open the fuselage again, mostly to salvage the internal engine parts and most of the PE from the cockpit. But I feel I am on a good track now.
Another tip: Test fit at every step! This is not one of Eduards best fitting kit I must say.

Cool build! Makes me feel like I should build mine as well. I am definitely learning from your experiences here!

Hello Bernd and Alessandro.
Well, I'm done with this one for now. It took a bit longer to finish than anticipated, mostly because a lot of things got in the way and I also for a time lost complete interest in it.
The keen eye may notice that the external tanks are missing. I just forgot to paint them and when I noticed I just didn't feel it anymore. Maybe I'll add them someday.

You can add a new topic on your own, by adding a kit for it. Only empty topics are auto-deleted.

Sure, dear Frank, but I can't add a topic if there is NO kit available - but there are, instead, a number of interesting gallery articles for scratch-built models of said subject... like in this case:

Then I would add a gallery article and edit it afterwards. There is also a topic field.

Unless I'm terribly mistaken (and apologies if I do), you can NOT add a NEW topic by using the topic field on the edit form of gallery articles... (as is the case with new kits). The same also used to apply for new entry books, again if I'm not mistaken...
See, for instance, always in the case above: scalemates.com/articles/article.php?id=437176&m=edit
The topic field in the "edit gallery article" form in fact only allows you to select from a pre-existing list of topics - if you simply write the name of the new topic, the topic still "doesn't exist" - unlike what happens when you enter a kit for a new topic...

I must admit that I have not tried this. Thanks for the explanation! May be the behavior of the topic fields should be identical.
Otherwise, if the topic is added and the article is not assigned "quickly" (within the timer) it would be auto-deleted too?

Edit: Yes. And also the reverse: It has already happened, for instance with this gallery, which had been added in the past: maquette72.free.fr/a.._db70/index_gm89.php
But since no "Dyle et Bacalan DB-70" topic was created soon enough... ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyle_et_Bacalan_DB-70 ) the added gallery simply vanished, after a certain time...
That's why when a gallery article. for such an esoteric topic with no kit available, is added, one has to ask for those mates with the power to add topics... to do so.
Or else (as I think I have asked Tim before), one should be able to add new topics when adding the relevant gallery articles and books...

It would be better to merge :
SCM Topic: Short S.23 into
SCM Topic: Short Empire as there was also a Short Empire S.30
