Album image #1
Copying the camouflage from the Revelle to scale diagram .
The light grey is laid-down, dark grey next. I find high build-up office tacky gives a nice realistic soft edge to camo. White tak has less oils in it than blue tack, n less sticky ...as l have had blue-tak pull paint!!!.
I really like Revelle instructions.

Album image #2
Tamiya's Dreaded Harrier it's bit agricultural ? but was a gift...so will build it up best l can. It's very robust

Album image #3
Few items added to my line-up, couple of cheap $5 mini hobby,s to do between a bigger build.
They come out ok in the end.

Album image #4
Pilot onboard, few gaps to fill, l used UV activated resin to fill gaps, it really clean n easy with almost no sanding required after.

Album image #5
Tamiya sea harrier, lm going to do the HMS invincible in honour n memory of Sharky Ward.
R.l.P
Will have the 001 markings.

Album image #6
My 1:72 scale Soviet pilot getting ready for his Yak-3 , from my research the flying officer had blue trousers/pants and side arm.

Album image #7
Started the Revell/ Zvezda re-boxed, Yak-3 in 1:72 scale, Unbelievably impressed how good the Zvezda tooling is, it literally snaps together it's so sharp n precise.
Cockpit underway, from photograph's l think the grey/ green is right. Pilot next paint job

Album image #8
Revell Yak-3 1:72 pilot n cockpit finished now, l think it's a radio set behind seat? I tried using light brown with mahogany was to get leather look on seat- back, Zvezda tooling has been spot-on making it manageable.

Album image #9
Airfix Curtis Tomahawk in 1:72 Very good kit, cockpit difficult to mask. First time using blue-tak as camo mask

Album image #10
Just Completed on 4/June/2024
Missile's, wheels n landing hook to finish, l try and keep all the delicate/ easy to break-off bits to very last.
Arii in 1:144 F-14 Tomcat Jolly Rodgers

Album image #11
Dog fight rivals., l need to remember to dry-fit test my canopies once airframe is built, to get better fit before glue!

Album image #12
Album image #13
Revell FW-190 in 1:72 scale. I really liked revell's instructions, and amount of decals supplied.

Album image #14
Mini hobby models 1:144 star fighter with Norwegian Air force markings, Keeping eye on the Soviet's ?

Album image #15
Album image #16
Hobbyboss Mig-15 in 1:72 scale.
They don't give much cockpit detail but in 1:72 it's hard to see anyway. Like the Soviet light green on internal parts n gear.

Album image #17
Album image #18
My 2nd build, could do with panel line paint. The airbreaks were tricky! Learned to dry-fit from this process!!

Album image #19
First model after starting back after 20 years... Was an air museum gift.. learned how to camo better now n got airbrush. 8 more built since n 2 in progress ?

Album image #20
Airfix 1:72 scale Foland Gnat , yellow is hard colour to do, Tamiya yellow worked in the end.

Album image #21
Airfix Curtis Tomahawk. Recommend kit goes together really well , good work from Airfix on this one ?

Album image #22
Airfix do a good Tomahawk ??

Album image #23
Mini-hobby Starfighter 1:144 nice little kits for £4 of AliExpress, great for saving room, will tide me over until l build the Hasgeawa one.

Album image #24
Mini hobby models Mig-21 Fish bed. 1:144 scale tiny.
Kits are only £4 off AliExpress n good fill in builds n save room.

Album image #25
Blue-tak/ office putty to mask for camo, works really well with soft realistic edge

Tomahawk Pilot

Album image #32
Revell FW-190 in 1:72 scale.
I really enjoyed this build 8 different colours in total. Some small fiddly bits n canopy was bit frosted. Will polish soon.

Album image #33
Hobbyboss Mig 15 Fagot,
Love the light green they use on the internal parts

Album image #34
Cocktail sticks stuck-out to prevent guns from getting caught n snapping off!! Hard to keep to the end undamaged in build n paint.

Album image #35
Album image #36
Foland Gnat, trainer prior to the Hawk.
I remember these flying over the caravan park in N.Wales as a kid. Didn't put the aerial at front as would definitely break off.
I was told this was the jet they used before the Hawks on red arrows team???

Album image #37
Tomahawk, Desert sand . I put the light colours on first n follow up with the darker camo after.
May be opposite to the norm ?

Album image #38
White- tak for camo mask, white-tak has less oil than the blu-tak

Album image #39

Album image #44
Revell FW 190 cockpit Revell very generous on decals with this one. Softener definitely needed.

Album image #46
The canopies are notoriously bad on this kit..!!
All l want for Christmas is a little vacform machine ??

Album image #47
Album image #48
The F-14 is one of the better £4 AliExpress specials.

Album image #49
I add a little bit of blue wash to the end of jet exhaust to give a heat discoloration effect

Album image #50
Cheap n cheerful, didn't even come in a box ?

Album image #51
Album image #52
Get yours now for £4 mini hobby on AliExpress ?
But l know Eduard do really nice 1:144 scale kits, you get what you pay for?

Album image #53
On going Project, Revell Yak-3 1:72 re-box Zvezda kit.

Album image #54
I like painting up cockpit's but unfortunately you don't see much on 1:72 scale once canopy is on, n not fan of open due to dust!!

Album image #55
12 months work the spit was 1st as gift and learning all the time , l get my stands of AliExpress £2 each for 1/72 size.

The Soviet aircraft had a light green underside, compared to the light blue/grey common in other ww2 fighters, l was bit unsure so looked at Musium examples online to confirm.

Album image #62
Matched best l can, photos from internet show the Grey's a little lighter than Revell instructions.!? I find clear-coat makes grey go darker a little too, apparently the Soviet factory' just used old blankets to create a mask for spraying camo.

Coming along now, just getting on with the weaponry n final touches, you could have 4x ? bomb's, but looked to busy.
I found getting a painted tip on the nose or on weapon tips...is to dip it in paint to right depth.

Album image #67
Album image #68
I use a slot it a car sponge to add my side decals, cheap n works great, and sponge doesn't damage paint.
You can put sponge on both wing to do undercarriage work n keep canopy safe.

Album image #69
Bottom detail all fitted now, few instruments to fit on-top n finished, l put bits of tape to protect black paint on tires.... while working on the top.

I can never do a build without breaking off antenna's like this...there to vulnerable!! I cut them of at start and add back on as very last item. I cut it off slightly V shaped into wing...they go back ok.

Album image #81
Album image #82
Microscopic pilot for my 1:144 Mig-23
Something l made up to save an empty cockpit. You see very little through a 1:144 canopy....so it's just a shiloete really

Album image #83
Shark Ward Harrier

Album image #84
Number 001 with Commander Ward markings, it's the HMS invincible Harrier in memory to Sharky Ward, R.I.P.

Album image #92
Album image #93
Weapon's onboard, Rear wheels next, l added an extra set of missiles from spares box... 1/144 small but mighty ?

Album image #94
Album image #95
IAR-80 Romanian WW2 Fighter, 1942 to war end, Soviet version from 1945-48
German technology was used in development so has similarities to FW and the 109
I really liked the paint scheme n it was generally decent fighter.

Album image #96
Commander Ward, tribute

Album image #97
It's made from flat PE sheets, Need good tweezers set and good eyes ??, hard to see as being shiny it reflects light back !!
The base is made from scrap bit of balsa n ply, varnish with a clear n Velejo mahogany mix...was a gift ... Something bit different

Album image #98
I use gorilla glue clear for canopy fixing, it's 100% clear and really strong,
That's a clear part glued on to white plastic....and the glue pot is taped on the end ... hanging to show strength.
I just apply with a pin ...and let it air dry overnight.

That's a cool idea using a car sponge to hold the model. I think I will have to get one.

Regarding the Gnat, use white or pink (really!) as a base coat for yellow and it covers in fewer coats. Tamiya's yellow is probably better than most but it's still a difficult color to work with.
