Murcielago R-SV Blancpain -WIP

It always starts with washing... 

Because most parts are splitted, panel-lines only exist where they are marked. 

There was a lot of shrinkage in several places, so a lot of sanding work was required. 

The muffler was removed of its plating and thinned down. 

Since I had to paint it in two-tone black/white, I first painted the white surfacer, and painted the wheels with 'Tamiya Dark Iron'. I painted the gold with 'Gaianotes Starbright Gold', but I don't like the color. 🙁 

Looking at the parts to be painted black, the side mirrors have no attachment pins or holes and no indication of where they should be attached. 

The doors are movable, I was 100% sure they would detached during assembly, so I installed attachment pins. 

Masked it to paint it black. 

Painted black surfacer. (body shell too) 

And painted gloss black. 

Painted AK Super Chrome to air funnel.
The gold color kept bugging me, so I repainted it with GSW's gold color.
I'm happy that it's the 18k gold color I wanted.
 

The ceramic brake discs are painted in No.5 carbon color. I think it's the perfect color. 

Masked once more. 

I painted Stainless Silver, Flat Aluminium. 

Then I painted Burnt Iron after last masking.
And painted Gloss Black for paint carbon pattern. 

I painted carbon pattern with stocking.
The center fascia is a mess, but I'll ignore it since it won't show up well once it's done. Other parts have a slightly good pattern. 

This pattern is not a bad quality, but since it is an important exterior part, I don't think it can be used as is. 

Wased with thinner. 

In the end, I had no choice but to use carbon decals. 

It took a long time because I was trying to glue it as a single sheet. 

I only applied the carbon decals to the top of the wing. 

Only the vertical plate on the back part had a carbon pattern, so I masked it and painted it, but the pattern didn't come out evenly, so I did the carbon wrapping again. This time, I used Hasegawa sheet instead of decals. 

The Kevlar pattern on the back of the seat also uses Hasegawa sheet. 

Now I'm trying to put the decal on and I found a mistake in the instructions.
It's designated as #25 overall, but the decal with the number on it is for #24. 

I found another mistake.
This time the number was correctly assigned, but the picture was drawn as car #24. 

Anyway, I applied all the decals. The quality of the decals was very good, so I had no stress at all while working. 

And I painted Gloss Clear.
1st. coat: UV Cut Clear.
2nd, coat: Super Clear. 

I sanded it down to remove the decal steps. (no need polishing with compound) 

Coated GSI super smooth clear(matt). 

Painted with paint brush. 

The only polished part in this kit is the side mirror. The paint cracked while polishing it. It wasn't worn down by sanding, it just cracked off.
So I sanded the entire top surface again. 

I repainted it from scratch. I need to apply two more coats of glossy clear. 

Ready to asselble. 

Most car kits start with the engine, but this kit starts with the drivetrain. 

Assembled V12. 

The kit does not include seat belts, nor are they printed on the decals.
So I made this using the etchings and marked line tape I had. This time I made the shoulder straps in two pieces. 

Done. The belt of real car is probably a 6-point belt, but the etching I had was only 5-point. 

I lengthened the runner and wrapped it around the clip.
What I use this for... 

I used it for this purpose. Does it look good? 

Interior done. 

Inner parts done. 

I attached the mesh to the back frame.
Nylon mesh is easier to glue with glue that feels slightly sticky after hardening, like wood glue, than regular glue. 

Be careful not to get any glue on the hinge area. 

I have assembled the front bumper. 

Assembly of the wings was a bit tricky as they had to be secured so that they remained vertical, horizontal and parallel. 

While trimming the inner glass of the tail lamps, two of them slipped out of my hands.
Strangely, when that happens, they disappear without a trace.
So I had no choice but to duplicate them with the remaining two. 

Anyway, I assembled rear parts. 

The small window (fuel filler) part at the B-pillar had to be attached so that the cover attached to it did not protrude beyond the edge of the roof. 

The door had to be assembled while ensuring the empty space at the indicated location. 

Attached side skirt. 

The instructions say to glue the inner parts of the headlamp first, but I preferred to glue the cover first to match the curved surface of the body. Otherwise, the cover glass will stick out more than the curved surface of the body. 

I replaced the main lamp with a bead. 

Attached inner head lamp parts. 

I used the thick metal stickers that came in the Tamiya case. 

The hinge fixings must be attached separately for left and right orientation. 

Attached front windshield and wiper. 

Now combined the upper body to lower body. 

I mounted the wheels.
Then I glued the parts shown, which was tricky because the attachment guides have some gaps in them, so it was tricky to get them to fit the body line.
And since we're going to be adding parts on top of this, it needs to be secure. 

I don't know this part's name. canard? wing? diffuser?
Anyway, the description of the attachment area was vague, so I almost attached it incorrectly.
I attached it by aligning the protrusions inside the part with the grooves, and it looked a little funny. So I thought something was strange, so I looked up a picture of the actual car and reattached it. 

Attached muffler and rear diffuser.
Hmmm.... I should have thinned the diffuser 🤔
But, I don't have much time as I have hundreds of kits I want to make in the future, so I passed it. 😄 

I installed side mirror and wing.
It's almost done... 

I put a Hasegawa matte black sheet on the fuel filler cap.
But I don't like it... 

So I tore it off and painted a few coats of Tamiya panel line accents. 

Finally, If I sticked embossed logo... 

Finished.
