Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 (Eduard 1/48) - In progress

 

 

 

 

Fuselage, wings and all the cowlings on and around the engine glued together. The fit was almost ideal, but the model requires tiny bits of putty here and there, the excess wiped easily by cotton bud dipped in the Mr. Color Leveling Thinner. 

 

Surfacer on, polished and started preshading for the RLM65 blue underside and fuselage sides coat. 

 

 

RLM65 (AK 3G acrylic) on. I am not entirely convinced of its final look, I miss a bit of the blueish tint in it. The problem is the coat looks a bit different under different light sources, I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning to see how does it look under natural daylight. Maybe it will need a thin blue filter layer... 

The lack of the blue tint is more prominent on the hull sides (looks like a blueish-grey). I am not jumping into conclusions yet, I also remember that the AK 3G acrylics tend to change its color hue a bit after getting a gloss coat. As our local saying states, "tomorrow's wiser than today" - let's see tomorrow then 🙂 

 

All main colors on (RLM65, RLM02, RLM71 - all AK 3G acrylics), I'm satisfied with the result so far, only couple of minor areas will require a bit of touch up. 

 

 

 

 

 

Decals are on. They are thin and copy the surface details nicely with a bit of decals solutions applied, however some of them were also very brittle and started to tear when I tried moving them to the position on the model. Some of them will require a bit of a touch up later on - I'm giving them a day to lay down into the recessed panel lines.
