Album image #11
Body was painted white then black to kind of match the decals.

Album image #12
First decals were placed on the body. Fitment is not the best though...

Album image #14
Right side decal is on.

Album image #15
And the left side decal is on as well.

Album image #16
Pfff, 2 long evenings of decalling and still not done (or completely satisfied). Red arrow indicates one of the parts that needs extra decals becaus of "mis-fitting".

Album image #17
Finished the airscoop using a self printed decal for the blue and leftovers for the red stripes

Album image #18

Album image #19

Album image #20
Painted the windows using the templates in the kit.

Album image #21
Lights were painted using Alclad Chrome.

Album image #22
Added a couple of extra decals to compensate for the mismatching decals. Every arrow points to a single decal!

Album image #24
All 5 wheels were painted black.

Album image #25
Rear wing was corrected with a small strip.

Inside view of the body.

Album image #32

Looking great Tim...
Excellent detail work, very interesting...👍

Would you believe I barely did any extra detailling? Most of it is straight from the box 🙂

When I say detail work, I'm meaning...
For instance in the fifth pic, the inside of the door, the application of the decal without creases or bubbles is well acheived. The application of paint is flawless, giving a satisfying look to the work so far.
It's your attention to detail, rather than applying extra aftermarket detail, that I'm actually speaking of.
From the pics, I judge it's a well executed (so far) peice of model building. 🙂

Thanks! Great to see other builders can look beyond aftermarket detailing 😉

Aftermarket detail is OK!!!
Used correctly it can enhance a look, such as radiator grills, for instance...
But it can also be overdone, it can be taken to far.
I prefer scratch building a lot of my extra detail work, it's cheaper as well.
Some aftermarket stuff is more expensive than the kit, that's why I like the MFH kits so much, everything you need to build them, is in the box!!!

QUOTE>> Fitment not the best though <<END QUOTE:
On the plus side though Tim, from here on my computer, they look pretty good to me...👍
But as your the builder (we ourselves are our own worse critics) I respect your view...
You know best!!!
Is it one large decal in pic 12, or in sections???
10 May 2014, 10:17
Tim van Dooremalen
@Steve, the rear section is made up of 3 decals (not including the right rear fender). When I'v done the rest of the decals I'll make a few pictures with some pointers to show were the fitment problems were.

@Tim, I thought it would be sectioned, but you done it so well...
I can't see the joins and I did try!!!🙂

The 2 big side decals are on as well. Not was bad as I was fearing before hand... although painting the orange part really was a good decision 🙂

Anyone knowing the song "I'm Going Slightly Mad" by Queen? That's how I felt when I was decalling the front of the car. Not a single decal would fit. Literally every one of them I had to cut in several parts trying to get them to fit... I'll try to post some pictures tonight.

David Lengyel
I know the song and your experience is exactly the reason why I am afraid of large decals.

Again, looking at it on the computer, it doesn't look bad...
I'd say you've done a great job, the hard work you put in has paid off👍8)😄

Finally finished most of the interior and started added the small bits to the shell.

Made some progress on the rear wing. As the decals for this are worthless I ended up painting the green parts and overlaying them with my own made decals. These were based on the decalset but only had the black "dots". Same procedure was used for the rearview mirrors

looks great a lot of detail
do belkits give you the ford logo with the kit or do you have to buy it separately
16 September 2014, 17:45
Tim van Dooremalen
Why wouldn't they give you the Ford logo? Besides, I used an aftermarket decalset 😉
