How did you make that awesome mud ???
8 April 2014, 02:04
Andre B
the mud was pretty simple. you start with applying dust color from the ak interactive tracks & wheels set on the running gear and the places where you want the mud. it gives a matt surface so it is easier to place the pigments. after that you start with the mud. you go from light to dark. so the first step is to apply the dry mud. you mix earth effects from ak / mig some plaster and a little bit of white spirit. you need a consistency like pudding. if you add plaster the result will be lighter than the color of eart effects you have to be aware of that. you take a brush and load it with the mud mixture, then you use the air flow of your airbrush to blast it on the model. you do that from the direction the mud would splatter in reality, from below. let it dry. after that you mix dark earth enamel, plaster and white spirit in the same manner and apply the fresher mud splatters. if they aren't dark enough or doesnt seem wet you can pick a brush and use fresh mud or dark earth directly from the bottle and apply undiluted with a brush to the areas that need extra treatment. i used this crappy zvezda tiger to practice this technique. it was my first time but the results are ok. the technique is pretty simple =) hope that helps!

It is posts like these that make you realize that the skill of the modeler and the way he / she transfers his art onto the model is often much more important than the quality of the actual model itself!

Great job, Andre! Really great! 👍

i used this scalemates.com/products/product.php?id=234786 for the grass. 6mm grass flock fixed with white glue and repainted with the airbrush for better fittinh with the kursk soil
