I think I will use it on my current Spitifre as it has ended becoming a grossly worn example and I will need to fade the decals as they are to colourful and won't sit naturally with all the wear and tear, I really like this idea 🙂
I will check out your Sukhoi 2 too 😄
Also if you have any advice on moving forward with my Spitfire I would be glad of it as I am having a moment of uncertainty 🙂

to let the decals look pale I use Matte Base H 20 from Gunze Color
you have to experiment with isopropanol mixture which is compatible
the rough surface then takes the dust to better, and you can patina the characters very well
the traces should be aligned in the direction of flight, and thus also following the flow
each aircraft has corners where it can lead to compressions
if harm should ask are shown, it would consider where Koenen Plank parts meet the aircraft, and it excludes propeller circles
dirt can sic on an aircraft where hold ??
a speed exceeding 500 km / h can be probably the work surface clean, but at front edge dirt would return parts act as abrasives
what colors can show ??
Never chrome or black genuine
black is not found in nature and even the dirt stains when other components are mixed (oil / kerosene / fats, water, salt, etc.)
otherwise you should follow the stomach feeling, Creative is always in demand
and, probably also crucial

I don't what a Koenen Plank is though, never heard of this before, what does it mean ?
Not sure about using isopropanol with my cheapo airbrush as the seals on it will not be the fancy ones that can take anything through them so at the moment I am only using acrylics. I was considering using the Life Colour matt clear with a drop of grey in it just to knock the colours back a little bit and then do the ash tray trick.

(A general comment on final accent based on experience of what works and obsevartion of what does not:
never add final accents by formula. This is very much in vogue presently and the model then comes across a technique showcase rather than a representaion. Add only what you see in the references; sometime more subtle for scale, sometime slightly accentuated, but only slightly. Subtle is precieved more than observed and that is the real magic of fine art in styrene. yes, if the images of your subject are not clear, use another photo, however stay as close to locale, unit, duration and conditions as possible in selecting refernces. ) By the way, I think the balance of final effects here is rather nice!
