The only kit I have the paint in stock to complete so I'm on it!
Laid down some Tamiya TS-3 Dark Yellow Matte on the interior tub.
I've owned loads of GM F bodies & the colour match for the factory Camel vinyl is spooky 👍

A 1/16th snap together?? Never heard of one! Take your time and detail it as much as you can, since my experience has always been that they cheat you on detail with those snap kits. I'll be watching with interest my friend.

It's not that bad, some good basic detail in the bodyshell & floorpan, engine and trans ain't bad either.
Interior tub is bland to say the least, lots of details need to be painted in, maybe some strobe striping on the seat cushions & door cards.
Just trying out some Humbrol Masking Fluid on the seats.

Added some much needed detail on the very plain doorcards with some tri-colour stripes to match the seats. Just need to chrome the door handles & window switches.

Cheers Tim, I saw that tri-colour trim in a late C3 Vette so I thought GM brothers & all that, I'll use it.
Just loosely dropped the body over it & the effect is what I wanted 👍

Just painted & put the motor & trans together, used an aluminium gloss to replicate some aftermarket heads & intake. Satin gold to replicate a Moroso gold anodised oil pan, also the alternator & aftermarket flex fan.
The ubiquitous Molotow pen provided the chrome for the pulleys & finned valve covers I kit bashed from the spares box.
Now to find some wire to make plug wires & heater hoses & find something to make an open element air cleaner.

Getting close to finishing the floorpan, there is so little detail I've had to kit bash loads of details in.
Axle doesn't look too shabby now, but I need to make some shocks & a sway bar for it.
Front suspension is a joke, I've just painted on some tubular A arms to gauge what they'll look like, now I'm happy enough with the look of them I can fab some out of sprue.
No front brakes either, but the hubs go so deep in the back of the wheel rim there's hardly any space to fab some basic callipers & discs, I'm sure I can make something basic.

Great paint. Wheels look fab. So what's the easier build 1/24 or 1/16 ?

Thanks mates👍
The wheels were just red plastic so a coat of Molotow chrome with a bright gold Sharpie over that made them look much nicer!
That'll work great on Trans Am snowflakes too, the gold really pops with the chrome underneath.
I like the bigger stuff Nigel, 1/16 is actually a nice scale, big enough to be more interesting than 1/24 but not the greedy shelf stealer like the 1/12 & 1/8.

Nigel, the bigger they are, the more prone to show flaws and there is less of a selection and less aftermarket parts, the positive side is you can add more detail. Which is easier depends on the kit really not the size. Munky and a few of us like the large scale but also build the smaller and others are just the opposite and only have built 1 or 2 larger scales. To me I end up modifying the larger kits and mostly do out of box builds with the smaller. So in the end, just find a kit you like and do it.

I've just found some 1mm thick slightly tinted acetate sheet, hopefully I can use that to make the front & rear screens.
I was considering making a louvred rear screen cover, they were pretty popular back in the day.
But I've tried to avoid the basic gold/black/red treatment that's on the kit box & go for the bright chrome/gold & candy red paint, so a black window louvre might not suit it now.........?

I know where you're coming from, about them louvres. I remember building a sunbeam, I think it was? That had them on the rear. Not my cup of tea, but if you've got the time, go for it and see how it looks?

They are mate, really nice "82-on cars are cheap still.
I saw a 5 speed all original Z-28 the spitting image of my 1/8 monogram kit for just over 4K, tidy unmolested example too 😉

Just got a partial one of these. Same kit, but minus Chassis & Engine (got it for not a lot) Planning to copy needed parts in resin from the AMT Firebird I have. Just need to cut about 10mm out of the floorpan somewhere as there is quite a variance there. Most of the rest of the Firebird parts seem to be a good match. i Think the problem is insufficient length between the A Pillar and the back of the front arches.
I'm also contemplating doing something about those flared front arches.

Interesting idea Chaz......... look forward to seeeing what you can copy.
I'm still waiting to find a pair of T tops & a front screen.
I've a spare nose cone if you want to butcher the deep air dam off it?
Also have a spare 350 TPi & TH700R4 from a 1/16 Revell C4 Vette I bought for spares.

Think I can help you with the T-tops, I'm planning to do a solid roof, so I can take a mould of the T-tops and cast some solid panels for mine. As for the Motor, I could trade you a built & mostly complete 1/16 Hemi that came with the Camaro, (from the MPC General Lee) I'm never going to use it, I already have the General to build and no-one makes any other Chrysler Corp in 1/16, other than the CJ7s
I've taken a closer look at the two shells today, and I'm surprised to find the Revell is 5mm short in the doors compared to the AMT. All other panel proportions seem to match, and thankfully the width is the same. Although the Revell lacks a swage line on the rear wings.
I'm thinking of using a copy of the AMT chassis as-is, and stretching the shell 5mm in the middle, where a clean cut through the doors should be bridgeable with some card & putty. Just thinking about how I'm going to make moulds of the various parts without spending more on silicone than I would buying the AMT kit as a donor.
I fancy having a go with DIY Store Bathroom sealant for cheap low use moulds on this.

Just got back on to this one after a sudden bit of inspiration of how to make a front screen.....
I had to replace my Arai's visor today, scratches from 200mph insect impacts had made it less than safe 😄
With it comes an anti fog liner made of a thin, soft sheet of polycarbonate that is obviously optically correct.
As I installed the new visor I realised I could make good use of the old one, so I started to cut it up........ & it worked beautifully!
Super glued it to the top of the window frame & left the dashboard top to hold it in to place around the lower half. Pleased with the result & a new trick learnt👍

Disaster with the original decals, cracked apart as soon as they hit the warm water, even bathed a couple in decalsoft but no different.
Just dry, ancient decals, in the bin now....... or hanging off Edddie's furry gob 😄
Retouched the chrome in places after handling & painted in the black trim on the hood, grille, side vents & T roof rubbers.
Painted the door mirrors & chromed the front fender vents, they were supposed to be all black but I think the bright touches have really lit this one up 😉
I'll call this done until I find a nice smoked screen tint decal to slap on, otherwise its display ready.

It was still worth mentioning mate. It's been a while since I've gotten on here. Things have been crazy, during the covid outbreak, here at Castle Boz. New job, another car, more buying kits, and less time to build them! Now restrictions have been lifted, it's coming up to the time of visiting the states again. For now though, it's back to the real world and doing the front brakes on my 1:1 car. And you guessed it, it's raining here, in beautiful Manc land! Gonna have to upload some pictures of my recent creations, when I'm not covered in muck. Stay safe out there fellas, glue fumes to all 🙂
