I like this Tamiya 1/48 MMV series. A bit easier on the eyes for building than 1/72, but still compact for my limited working/display space. Starting off with the Firefly.

Build a basic paint job done. Got a coat of satin varnish on. Next step: planning some basic weathering - a bit of dust, etc.

I want to get the basics done: dust, wear and tear, but I've not done weathering before. Should I airbrush the dust, or dot filter, or a general wash or filter? Any suggestions for basic treatments welcome. Cheers! ?

Thanks JD, great resources! I spent half my life without the internet, how did we manage back then? 😄

The thing holding me back is fear of failure. I should just dive in and try these things. I can't get kits very easily/economically where I am, so I hate the idea of trashing a kit. Especially a Sherman 😄

Yeah, just dive in and play and experiment like you are a kid again, and don't worry about messing things up, because failure is the greatest teacher. When I first started up again 5 years ago I was so afraid to mess up a model, that I built a little tank out of wood to learn to airbrush on, then later grabbed some toys from the local dollar store to practice on. When I felt comfortable enough I switched to actual models, and have been doing it ever since. It's a good idea to practice on stuff you don't care about first to gain experience ?
