Meng 1/72 F-102A Delta Dagger - Vietnam War
Meng's F-102 is a really nice and beautifully engineered kit
All things inside the fuselage installed
Masking the inside of the intakes that fit very well
Weapons bay, I will close it up but everything is provided to show it open. Needed shims at the wing root to fill a gap.
Had some fit issues installing the wing, spreader to the rescue...
... and a nasty seam on the starboard side wing to fuselage join. Putting some tension on it.
Masking the windscreen
Primed and pre-shaded
First coat on, used AK Interactive acrylic, nice paint except it clogs my airbrush in no-time
Mid-green coat on...
... and more masking for the dark green
Dark green done...
...and looking good after de-masking
Gloss coat and first decals applied
Decals behaved well, didn't notice the slight white edge of the turbine warning strip until applying... But something else is off as well. Hmmm.
After a while I realized Meng fouled up with the national insignia. They are way too large.. What are these things called again? Right, references. Check check check. Darn things refused to come off, had to sand them off...
Respraying the damaged areas after quite some filling and sanding to repair the damage...
Back on track with insignia from the spares box
Matt coat on, light weathering done
More de-masking. Aaaand oops, pulled too hard on the masking tape in the intakes. Sigh...
intake back on with minimal damage and installing gear
Wing tanks etc on, almost there
And done! Pitot tube was damaged beyond repair in the box, so replaced by a pin.

Very nice! I had issues with the intakes when I did mine. Different boxing.
