Flying Sub. Made an interior and did lots of detailing of the windows. Then I did arguably the simplest part which was to paint the outside. I think I mixed the paint too thick. Also I wore gloves which dragged through the paint and ruined it. I was able to clean out the worst of it but it means I’m gonna have to sand and I didn’t want to do that. I was so close to being done it!

This is the control center. Even though you’re not seeing much of the details I put a ton of work into trying to get everything right. I repeated it 4 times. I can live with the results but I’m not happy with them. Luckily, they will be hidden. It will be kind of cool when I get the lights installed.

Put a ton of time into putting putty in the cracks on the top of the hull. Sanded them for days. Should have read ahead in the instructions because they get covered up! well… Good practice I guess. also… I think the primer might be different colours even though they come from pretty much the same can.

Great project Doug! I hate it when a setback slows you down, but keep at it, I want to see this one finished! Maybe a dunk in a strip bath for the flying sub, rather then sanding?

There's a few methods but I find the easiest and least toxic way is to use a strong automotive degreaser like Purple Power, Simple green, etc. soak parts in this and anywhere between a few minutes to overnight depending on the type of paint, then a little encouragement with a toothbrush should do the trick. Here's an example World war toons Panther V | Album by Mithran’dir (1:Egg)

The interior is great, don't give up and I cross my fingers to a lucky end 👍
