UH-60A Blackhawk
Glueing the seatbelts in place was torture and resulted in a lot of glue on the seat cushions themselves. Also, every photo I found shows the seatbelts as black or dark gray, not spotted periwinkle blue.
Figures by Reedoak, cockpit detail set by Eduard. I tried using a black wash to give the uniforms more depth - it looks decent in person but in photos the figures look like their legs are melting.
Photo of the instrument panel from Eduard. The gauges were scratchmade and printed on photo paper because the Eduard set was missing the instrument panel sticker.
Another view of the pilot and copilot. Looks like I used too much flash in the photo. 🙂
Another view, sans flash.
The workbench is getting a bit crowded...
Only photo I could find of an older UH-60 armed with Hellfire missiles. It will look vaguely like this but with external fuel tanks and painted FS34087 Olive Drab.
Not the best photo, but this is what it should look like.
I’m not sure if the crew chief figure is too big, the window is too low, or the chair is too high, but I don’t think his knees should be visible.
In most photos the gunner’s knees aren’t visible but in this one they are. I’ll just say the gunner is a big guy. 🙂
These photoetch side antennas are a nightmare. I should’ve stuck with the plastic ones in the kit.
Slowly making progress. Had some trouble keeping the windshield in place while it dried.
Might finally be ready for priming today. Only knocked off various antennas about a dozen times so far…
Knock on wood, it looks like I’m finally done painting the body. Not perfect, but not bad considering I ran out of paint and then got rained on while using water-based acrylics.
Right side view.
Not satisfied with the nose, but I’m just going to live with it. I’m not painting it for a fourth time.
Also, how the hell did I knock one of the gunner’s seats loose while airbrushing???
Look who can finally stand on her own!
Another view.

What a great job you've done so far. This isn't the easiest kit to build, but yours is a fine example. I'm bookmarking this for a future endeavor of my own. Merry Christmas!

Thank you Carl. It's temporarily on hold because I ran out of paint.
