![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/9/9/0/1006990-46533-46-720.jpg)
Because of the size of the turret I had to print it in 2 sections. The air vents were printed individually and glued in place.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/0/0/3/1007003-46533-35-720.jpg)
The rivets are punched from foil, and dynmo tape used to ensure that the rivets are straight. The are fixed in place with varnish.

Finally move into our hobby room after a nomadic modelling life
![Album image #60 Album image #60](/albums/img/4/1/5/1019415-46533-75-720.jpg)
Started to paint the deck, using acrylics and then a enamel wood filter (Orange and then dark wood stain)
![Album image #61 Album image #61](/albums/img/0/0/8/1020008-46533-67-720.jpg)
The foam base is going to be covered with 4 acrylic plates, with images transfered onto them
![Album image #62 Album image #62](/albums/img/0/0/9/1020009-46533-21-720.jpg)
The images are printed in reverse on a laser printer. It's then covered with transfer medium, rolled flat and left to dry.
![Album image #63 Album image #63](/albums/img/0/1/0/1020010-46533-41-720.jpg)
24 hours later the printer paper is wetted and rubbed off to leave the image.
![Album image #64 Album image #64](/albums/img/0/1/1/1020011-46533-62-720.jpg)

![Album image #65 Album image #65](/albums/img/0/0/2/1046002-46533-86-720.jpg)
Started to work on the weathering, in this shot the middle 3 brackets have been weathered compared to the un weathered end.
![Album image #66 Album image #66](/albums/img/0/0/3/1046003-46533-23-720.jpg)
I'm using AK weathering pencils for the first time. Took a bit of getting used too and I do need to knock back some of the heavier effect because they look a bit overdone.
![Album image #67 Album image #67](/albums/img/0/1/2/1046012-46533-81-720.jpg)
Added some dark streaks and darker rust streaks. Also used bright aluminium along some of the edges
![Album image #68 Album image #68](/albums/img/0/2/0/1046020-46533-88-720.jpg)
I will tone done some of the orange rust streaks as I over did these. Luckily it can be removed with a normal eraser.
![Album image #69 Album image #69](/albums/img/0/2/1/1046021-46533-54-720.jpg)

![Album image #80 Album image #80](/albums/img/4/7/0/1095470-46533-97-720.jpg)
Final highlighted the rivets and some of the edge
![Album image #81 Album image #81](/albums/img/4/7/1/1095471-46533-51-720.jpg)
Finally sprayed the base grey colour
![Album image #82 Album image #82](/albums/img/4/7/2/1095472-46533-20-720.jpg)

![Album image #87 Album image #87](/albums/img/0/4/1/1096041-46533-11-720.jpg)
Start to create the chips along the edge of the turret with light grey
![Album image #88 Album image #88](/albums/img/0/4/2/1096042-46533-43-720.jpg)
![Album image #89 Album image #89](/albums/img/0/4/3/1096043-46533-82-720.jpg)
Once all the light grey chips are added went over them with German grey.
![Album image #90 Album image #90](/albums/img/0/4/4/1096044-46533-59-720.jpg)
Next stage will be a vanish and then some washes
![Album image #91 Album image #91](/albums/img/3/4/5/1136345-46533-34-720.jpg)
Chipped the barbette and then applied a blue wash. Pin washed the rivets with a black panel wash
![Album image #92 Album image #92](/albums/img/3/4/6/1136346-46533-12-720.jpg)
![Album image #93 Album image #93](/albums/img/3/4/7/1136347-46533-33-720.jpg)

![Album image #101 Album image #101](/albums/img/8/1/6/1140816-46533-76-720.jpg)
Getting close to the finish now, need to add some pulleys to the catapult, guard rail, extra supports and then finish the walrus
![Album image #102 Album image #102](/albums/img/8/2/1/1144821-46533-40-720.jpg)
Started to finish the catapult, removed the launching piston and attached the 2 cables
![Album image #103 Album image #103](/albums/img/8/2/2/1144822-46533-19-720.jpg)
Then fed the whole assembly through the bottom truss of the catapult, although I had design it to be removable it was a bit of a squeeze.
![Album image #104 Album image #104](/albums/img/8/2/3/1144823-46533-26-720.jpg)
Fed the cables through the front pulley assembly then under the launch trolley.
![Album image #105 Album image #105](/albums/img/8/2/4/1144824-46533-91-720.jpg)

I`m finally finished , everything is fixed to the base. Overall I pretty happy how it turned out, If I did it over I would do a few things differently( weathering and construction), but I learned a lot and had fun which what its all about!!
Although I say I`m finished I am working on a motor to rotate the turret back and forth, but that`s for the benefit of my model club and doesn`t translate to a photo album.

Hi Gary, because they print using 2 different methods they compliment each other really well. The fda printer is great for larger models, that don't need such high resolution. The sla printer is ideal for small high res items, but is much slower.

Good use of 3d printer, not to replace a (Walrus) kit but adding nice parts around for a unique display. Fantastic project!
You should mention the ship name somewhere 😉

Very creative. No need to wait for a specific kit to augment a project anymore. Your paint work and weathering is also very good.

I am just blown away by this build. It's amazing! Curious how many hours do you have invested thus far?

Thanks to everyone who has commented, it's very much appreciated.
Alex it's been a lot, but there have been big gaps where I didn't work on it so I'm really not sure. My wife got seriously ill last year, so modelling took a back seat for a while.

Thanks Mark. I would be surprised you are under 1000 hours. Hope your wife is getting better 👍

Alec you are probably right there with 1000!!! Also my wife has made a full recovery, luckily we live within 30 minutes of one of the top Neurological units in the UK and they saved her life.
Cheers Capt Bellinger 👍

I just wanted to add my own great admiration for this Mark. You are obviously a highly skilled modeller. I am interested in seeing the integration of new tech with old tech; as this is similar to my working day to day. And I too am also extremely jealous of your availability of such a clean working habitat! 😜 Kudos to you for completing and showcasing a highly enjoyable and informative album 👏

Just opened my latest copy of Airfix Model World and saw this amazing build featured in the Display Case section. I recognised it immediately and came straight here to double check. Inspirational stuff Mark. 👍
