Giant OV-10A
Comparison of 1/9 scale to 1/32 scale.
Banished to an upstairs bedroom because it's too big to go anywhere else.
Testing the main gear (spoiler alert: they failed after one year). The props blades and hubs are printed in resin. The spinners are original to the kit.
After one year of valiant duty the left main struts cracked. It appears the PLA material does not maintain strength over time.
Molds printed on an FDM printer. Liquid foam (from FoamIt!) is poured into the molds to make forward and aft halves of the tank. The halves are glued together and a "saddle" part is printed on a resin printer and glued to the top.
This is a flying RC "foamy" airplane with a 1400mm wingspan (1/9 scale). It can be found here: motionrc.com/product..wingspan-pnp-flw305p
Nose gear parts fresh off the printers. The two big parts are FDM printed, the small part is resin printed.
Test fit of Nose Gear Assembly. It consists of three parts: Well/doors part, strut/wheel part, and aft door/oleo part. The last part was printed on a resin printer.
Pouring one half of the 230 gallon tank.
Finishing work on the 230 gallon tank.
Installing 3D printed filler bit into the tank.
