Hi Karel. Following along. One point of consideration. I was just reading about this aircraft in the Eduard Info magazine for March, and in contrast to one of your photos it mentioned this one had the outer cannons removed and replaced with two machine guns in the outer bays. Not sure if I'm understanding that right and the validity of that claim obviously but thought I'd let you know in case you're a stickler for detail. Here's the link to the English language version info.eduard.com/en/03-2023-1/page-33. All the best.

And now on rereading I see of course that your main photo is from Eduard and explains that detail anyway 😄

I will build the model from the time just before the cannons were dismantled, so my model will be 4x20mm.

Great stuff. It wasn't a criticism I just wanted to draw your attention to it just in case you hadn't seen that was all. 👍

Spitfire Vc "UFS" Sgt. Sgt. George Beurling No. 249 Sdn Takali Malta July 1942
Spitfire Mk VC BR301 SU-F flown by Plt Off John McElroy RCAF, No 249 Sqn, July 1942, Malta

Spity, které na Maltu přelétaly z letadlových lodí měly vrtule deHavilland - byly důležité pro start z paluby.

BR301 VcT 2853 EA M46 FF 24-4-42 6MU 25-4-42 RAF Renfrew 28-4-42 flown off Wasp to Malta 9-5-42 249S 'UF-S' 8-6-42 Damaged by Bf109s while landing Takali 29-7-42 SOC 31-7-42 FH54.20

UFS was flown by Beurling on July 27 when he shot down 2 Macchi 202's and 2 Bf109F's and again on July 29th when he shot down 1 BF109F. Like many Spitfires on Malta, it was "the Village bicycle" everyone got a ride, other known claims made in UFS/BR301:
June 26 1942 Plt. Off. J.H. Curry RCAF(US) 601 Squadron shot down MC202 .
July 7 1942 Plt. Off. J.F. McElroy RCAF 249 Squadron shot down MC202 .
July 9th 1942 Plt. Off. J.F. McElroy RCAF 249 Squadron shot down Ju88 (1/2 Share)
July 11 1942 Plt Off. A.S. Yates RAAF 249 Squadron shot down BF109F (1/2 Share)
July 13 1942 Plt. Off. J.F. McElroy RCAF 249 Squadron shot down BF109F
July 23 1942 Sqn. Ldr. R.A. Mitchell RAF 249 Squadron shot down Ju88

UFS/BR301 was damaged July 29th in the air and again on the ground and was written off July 31.
Part of the delivery of Spitfire Vc's launched from the USS Wasp in the Mediterranean in Operation Bowery flown to Malta, May 9th 1942. While onboard the Spitfires were quickly overpainted with US Navy Blue to afford some camouflage over the sea for the long flight to Malta. Some aircraft were painted with thinned paint as it was running out, giving a two tone effect.
This aircraft was orginally assigned to 601 Squadron, but was turned over to 249 Squadron when the remnants of 601 Squadron left Malta for Egypt.

Toto letadlo bylo původně přiděleno k 601. peruti, ale bylo převedeno na 249 perutě, když zbytky 601 perutě opustily Maltu do Egypta.

The code UF-S was used in a Spitfire Mk Vc, BR301, No. 249 Squadron, flown by Flight Sergeant George "Buzz" Beurling on July 27, 1942 in Takali, Malta, and recorded four aerial victories that day.
