The inspiration. The BAC Strikemaster in operation

In the absence of a Strikemaster host kit, I’m making do with Airfix’s excellent Jet Provost.

I had plans to load the wings with ordnance

These Buccaneer rocket pods from the era should be perfect … not for long though!

Operation Storm was an extraordinary secret mission during the early 1970s involving RAF pilots and the SAS fighting in support of the Sultan of Oman against an enemy with weapons and training from China and the Soviet Union.

Camouflage masks work well for this kit. Now ready for the special decals, then time to fit wheels & canopy

The canopy is not actually correct for the Strikemaster but close enough for me. I’ve never been a rivet counter’!

When fitting the wheels, the rocket pods were found to be too big to hang under the wings so had to be removed

A fascinating book, a great Airfix kit and another enjoyable Hunting Jet Provost build.

I love a good build with a great backstory
