DKM Type XXIII U-Boat

The first Type XXIII to achieve combat success was U-2322 which is the subject of this build. Sailing on 6 February 1945 from Norway, she encountered a convoy and sank the coaster Egholm (1300 tons) on 25 February. This kit was a quick build with nice detail on the parts. Based on reference photos, the kit was missing steps up the front of the conning tower. I added them with floral wire bent to shape. I added a fishing line aerial wire and used white glue dots to make the conductors. The kit supplied a couple of small plastic pieces to use as a stand. I replaced it with a wood plaque and brass tubing. I am still working on my "rust skills" but I am happy with the outcome.
