Well, first of all, three coloured flag is not now an official flag of Spain (as Constitution defines the national ensign as red-yellow-red, yellow area with the same surface as the sum of the two red áreas, no banner specified), and was only official through a decree from 1931 to 1939. The 2nd Spanish Republic did not specified a flag (actual Constitution specified a lot of things "Not needed" or unimportant, has 169 Articles!).
You can see the tricolor flags in demonstrations (generally, left wing), but not necessary "Republican". Sometimes with a Red Star un the middle. As I said, it is not an official flag now, but the use is not forbidden.
Red-yellow-red flags can be considered "constitutional" stricto senso but, wait, Constitution talks about the colours and configuración but did not specify a banner. So, whenever you see a flag with a four reigns, Granada and crown banner, this flag is considered official, but the banner is an "adding". If you see the flag with an Osborne Bull, it is not considered official, but, stricto senso, it is. And the problem: a flag with the Eagle of San Juan (banner used during Franco's régimen) is considered non-constitutional but, in fact, it is (now, Govt wants to forbid their use using a Law or a Decree, but the problem is that, Constitutionally, you cannot do that).
Well, Spanish and the use of flags and complications about laws. If flags were sharp, a lot of people would not went to soccer matchs (they would be busy stabbing eachother).
Then, it's me. I have only Burgundy Cross flag (official from Charles I to Charles III): I bought it, was made official in the XVI century and, if the rest of the Spaniards want to change their flag every couple of years, they can, but my flag is almost new and I do not want to make flag manufacturers richer, because I need my money to buy more models... 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
