21st Tank Brigade, Royal Tank Corps WWII.

21st Army Tank Brigade was formed in September 1939. Due to shortages of new tanks, the brigade only received a few dozen light and obsolete medium tanks for training until August 1941 when they were equipped with Valentine MkI tanks. These were followed by Valentine MkII in April 1941 and by January 1942 the brigade had received 100 new Churchill tanks.
The brigade was re-designated 21st Tank Brigade in June 1942. Now a Churchill tank brigade, 21st Tank Brigade arrived in Tunisia in March 1943 and fought in the final battles of the North African Campaign. It was not until May 1944 before the brigade deployed to Italy for the rest of the War in Europe.
