1940 Retreat to Bordeaux
VG-33 GC1/55, Villacoublay to Bordeaux

The SNCAN annex at Villacoublay was the finishing assembly line for the Arsenal VG-33. Previously covered by GC 1/4 and GC1/14 the pilots of GC1/55 including Zumbach took an arduous road trip and rotated recovering aircraft. Zumbach took the Hawk 75 no. 107 (see collection) and also VG-33 No. 7. It’s not clear if he flew any patrols but no action is recorded. It is likely that this aircraft was evacuated via Clermont Ferrand and eventually to Bordeaux before final evacuation of AdA pilots to Africa and England.
