These pictures start a build that gives me my first experience with 'Clear Prop' - and they are good ones! The fineness of the shapes, the accuracy of fit and the meaningfulness of the construction steps seem to combine to create a pleasurable building experience!
This plane is also highly interesting: originally derived as a drone for shooting practice from a small civilian predecessor model, hundreds were pulverised in the air. Some of those that survived this use went on to have an amazing career as light sports aircraft and enjoyed great popularity in the 1940s.

Hello mates! How nice that this small but lovely project has your interest and positive feedback! Indeed, a brand new kit that immediately caught my interest when I stumbled across it - so it ended up on the workbench straight away.
To answer the question about the current density of my projects: on the one hand, I sometimes wonder myself 🙂 On the other hand, I suspect that it has something to do with running three or four, maybe even five (at the moment, for example) projects in parallel . Something is 'always' being finished or started.

I made the following preparations for the bright red of the final surface: first I applied yellow followed by a layer of white to the model. After drying, I sanded this base, which should make the following red "glow", with 1000, 1200 and 2000 grit sandpaper to make the colour layers more transparent again, to get a smooth surface and to find any flaws - you can see a few exposed on the fuselage and tail unit. I am surprised by the very high quality of the kit and look forward to finishing it!

It looks like the Culver PQ-14 is ready! This was a most enjoyable project from start to finish. I am delighted with my first "clear prop" kit and I enjoyed the unusual history of the original. I made the seat belts and the aerial wiring, everything else can be found in the beautifully finished kit.

Is it possible to enable this notification only for specific kits? Now it seems to be enabled for all kits in the wishlist, while it might be more useful if you could only get notifications for specific kits of your choosing

I think most members have a 700 item wishlist. The thing is, I want to be able to get a notification when a rare kit comes up for sale. I don't mind getting a notification for every kit on my wishlist, but I can imagine some do. I think it would be nice to have the option to enable notifications for specific kits you're looking for. Like a button in the trade section of a kit you can click to receive the notification, just like the 'notify me when in stock' button on some websites.

I struggle (=my issue) to understand the value/reason of:
1) Having 700 (and some even 2000/5000) items in your wishlist
2) When they are on your wishlist actually not be interested in new buying opportunities. (eg. a non rare kit; for a great price = I would be interested)

Are there multiple levels of wishlist "Must have"/"Nice to have"?
Is the wishlist used for some missing features on scalemates"

in my case I use the wishlist for things that I find interesting and that I would like to have (one day) but i d not plan to buy immediately. that is why i have 867 items there 🙂
Only possible change would be to have the options of enable/disable the option, so if somebody is not interested to get those notifications, it will not be bother with them. other than that, i think is perfect the way it is now.

So having the ability to mark a kit as "interested" and seeing a list of those kits next to your wishlist is the missing feature?

You can move items to and from the interested list to the actual wishlist.

Interested = not actively actively looking (=no notifications)
Wishlist = actively looking and likely to buy when there is a good opportunity

I would just leave it as it is 🙂
if somebody complains about the notifications, then adding the option of enable/disable them would be an option. i guess somebody with 5000 items in the wishlist may bet quite a few messages 😉

I agree with Spanjaard. I don't think a rework of the wishlist system is required. For me, the current notification system is a great addition. Add an option to enable/disable it for those that don't want to receive them just in case. I personally have a wishlist with items I want for current/future projects so everything on that list is indeed something I would be interested in buying.

Scale models can be converted? So like a F111 model could be fitted with a nuke even though the original model didnt have one?

Definitely Kesa, there is a whole range of aftermarket conversions you can buy or if you are feeling adventurous, some conversions are reasonably easy to scratch build yourself. I have a couple of drawers full of plastic sheet of various thickness and plastic and metal rods, tubes, strips etc. I once saw a fantastic large scale scratch build of a B17 build that used the plastic from yogurt pots as the skin.

You could be right David. In the photo the load isn't attached to the crane hook but a hoop on the jib, as you say, probably using a hand winch. I have three photos of the back of various versions of this vehicle and none of them shows anything which might be used to control the crane, so obviously I can't add what I don't see. Thanks for your comment. 👍
