There is already a 1/72, also from Arma models. There's also a Navalised version of it in 1/72.

Unfortunately Arma Models is russian so it might be very difficult to get them right now, especially since they already sold to very few re-sellers even in Europe before the current events. Maybe try ebay sellers?

Try contacting i-modelist. I have been able to get kits through them. Got the Ka-52 preo order with all the 3Dprinted Am parts an an arma model Kinzhal off them. Shipping took about a month with Russian post.

I wanted to pass by, but you're just a miracle, it's not my thing, but hats off, it's genius.

OMG, all that wiring, however did you make it without losing track? But a very beautiful model it turned out to be, I am super impressed!

The wiring was really quite challenging. I used the instructions for the model from Wingnut wings in 1:32 scale as a good wiring diagram. It took me about about a month to stretch all the wires. There were moments when I did not believe that I would finish it. 😉

Okay. I thought this was 1:32 when I saw it. Now that I realize it's 1:72 I'm even more amazed.

Just came across this - amazing work! Did you use the AIMS decals for the white swirls?

To Mike: I couldn't find decals from AIMS here, so I decided to make an airbrush mask. I used the decal image as a base and redrew the whole thing in Corel. Then I cut them out of paper and tested how they fit on the fuselage. After many adjustments, I had the mask cut out on the plotter. It took a lot of time, but I think the result is not bad. (this mask is now available from MH models)

Wow, that's even more impressive then! I did see the MH Models masks. I have the AIMS decals, but I like the idea of masking the plane instead - plus, I read somewhere that some of the decals aren't the correct shape so hopefully MH got it right.

The mask from MH models should be the same one I created and used on my model. I gave them my data for cutting.

Hi Marius! Thank you!
The kit is nice. Reminded me of an early nineties Italeri kit if I can say so. Engravings are a little bit shallow, more a short run kit but at any case buildable. Nice cockpit with 2 types of seats made of resin provided (at the end of their time in the Luftwaffe a Martin Baker seat was used). Fit was good, just a gap between fuselage and wings required some attention. The camera windows required some putty and sanding to make them blending into the fuselage. I tried to recover the glass shine by applying some AK Gauzy inside and outside. But some humidity from cleaning the model before painting came inside the fuselage, reacted with the Gauzy and the transparency was gone - my fault. So I painted them black in the end. Nice decals. In the end a very enjoyable build and the best way for a 72 scale RF-84 I think.

Thank you for the detailed answer!
I was thinking in the past of buying this resin kit, which had many positive reviews:
Republic RF-84F Thunderflash (PJ Production 721023, 1:72)
but for almost 40€ I thought it's a bit too pricy and I was looking for a classic injection kit. I might taken the Sword kit in consideration mabye.

Thank you Mirko! You are right, the RF-84 is not seen as a finished model very frequenttly. Even if you consider the widespread use of this recce plane. Lots of of nice schemes to choose from like Belgian, Greek, Dutch, U.S. of course...

Thank you Neil!
@ Oleg: I used small strips of beige colored decal. Available here: tl-modellbau.de/Streifen-schmal_1
I have cut them smaller by using a fresh scalpel blade.
Would be good to have a source for pink strips which could be used for Russian planes´ cockpit sealings.

While looking at your photos I was also asking myself how you make the canopies so perfectly. The beige decal strips are a great solution. Beautiful results.

Thanks guys for bringing the RF-84 up again 😀 Glad you like it!
Regarding the decal strips: sometimes I have my moments and things work well 😄 as planned! Took a long time to find such kind of colored decal. Dirty pink stripes would be good as well for Russian planes…
