Landlubber MikeThanks for following guys. Lochsa, you're right about the canopy. There are fit issues in general with this kit - most of which aren't too difficult to deal with - but the canopy is a bit of a mess. I'm not really looking forward to that part of the build.

Landlubber MikeThanks Gorby! This was my first time trying to scratch build landing gear. Took me probably 20 hours 🙁 I ended up using Albion Alloys brass tubing for a lot of it, along with music wire, copper wire, plastic tubing, and other materials. I've bumped it a few times already and it is very stable so fingers crossed it makes it to the finish line!

I ended up finishing the JRS-1 tonight. Finally pictures in my album. And Michael, I did replace the teaser picture with my final build - now that it's done and stored in my glass case, much less risk of jinxing myself!

Yes l just get cheap ones of eBay, the do different sizes, you can pull ends n spring out for barrel look, or file ends last to have a recoil cannon look.
The gun turret nearly there now....lots of sanding n filling low spot.

Andy HawkinsFellow modellers, when airbrushing, do most use a booth with an extractor fan, just a booth, just a face mask, or neither. Or variations of the above? Trying understand what is necessary, and what is a nice to have...

Christoph KunzA booth with an extractor fan is an absolute musthave!
I use it always when airbrushing, also an FP2 mask.
When working with Alclad I also use a mask like this

Take a look at a used filter and you know, you don't want all this dirt in your lung.

bughunterNot long ago I changed the filters of my face mask and I was happy to have all the visible paint particles on the white dust filters not in my lungs now! I posted here on SM also a message about this.
And I always use both: a booth with an extractor fan to outside (as I love to use lacquer paints like Alclad, Mr.Paint ans so on, so no smell) _AND_ a face mask.
Sometimes I see in the sunlight that swirls of paint are created on the model surface, especially in angled areas, despite the extraction system. And that's why I also wear a mask (3M with active carbon and particle filters), because I don't want any paint particles or solvents in my lungs.
