David, I do it because I like the challenge as well...and I can't write symphonies. Scratch-building in 1/72 also gives me a chance to practice swearing. I'm getting quite good at it now. 😳

I need to drag myself away from using X-4 – even if I think it suits oldie-worldie vehicles. I don't want to be thought of as a one trick pony. I'm at least a two trick pony. 😄 😄

It happens sometimes! I've had this alot with brush painting, l think the brush would push paint under.
I use a masking fluid on top of any awkward masks now.
You will get it tidied ok.

I completed the build yesterday and other than the headlights being a bit too big I'm happy with how it turned out. I ended up really enjoying the build and thanks to every one for following. 👍

Kesa: Photo 28 explains how I made the base – it's as quick, simple and cheap as it's possible to make a reasonably decent base.

Beautiful model sir !!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 In the pictures the model doesn't look that small, certainly not 1/72 scale. Only in slide #34 where you can make the comparison with the match does it dawn on me that this really is a small model. Unless the matches in the Uk are a lot bigger than on the continent. 😉

Beautiful work as always Simon. Even in 1/35, this must be tiny. I do like these Japanese camo schemes and yours is magnificent. I always struggle to understand what Manga characters have to do with historical scale models. Maybe if I was Japanese I'd get it!

@Robbie: No, this is not a Girls & Panzer theme, but yes, it's fictional.
Fine Molds has a small series of 1/35 models called historic costume girls.

About the diolaog:
The German girl asks herself - doesn ́t she feel heavy?
The japanese girl proudly says - real scale!!

To what extent it makes sense, I'm not quite sure yet 😅
But it was translated to me by a competent man.
The font at the top and bottom of the picture concerns the name of the kit and its appearance.
I liked the picture, so I took it as a teaser, it stands out 😁

I will left this uniform, to hard to have te same result as real at this scale.
I've tried before, on spare part, with 2 metal colors and even if I use my 0.2mm airbrush, the result is awfull

It certainly does. Not easy by any means and much better than the preliminary tests I did so far.

For you attention, I use Vallejo duralumin for base coat, then, dark alu with a thin brush, I use only the tip to have the finest line I should, and draw random line with.
