Massive build. 9 pics offer only a mere glimpse. Some more detail shots would be appreciated.

You are aware the ship was painted two weeks before the attack, right after she came out of drydock from her collision with the Oklahoma, prior to the collision in November '41 She was in Measure 1 Dark Grey, (almost black but badly chalked up) Absolute fact as proven by Navy records.... After that, there is no official proof of her being repainted, there are some post war color photography shots taken by Life magazine that show the unburned wreck part still out of the water clearly in a brighter blue color this was 12 years after the attack....

She was looking brand new when she sank... NARA researchers (me being one of them) have narrowed it down to the last two weeks of November when she was painted, she made her trial run after her repairs as a freshly painted 5S Sea Blue ship with 5L Light Grey tops, (they left them as they were in measure 1) the hull was Norfolk anti fouling red, we feel pretty confident as we do have reports of the ship being loaded with paint pallets and members of the crew being ordered to repaint her during and after her repairs ... (although there is some discrepancy in the verbal reports, some crewmembers said bright blue others said battleship grey, but to a man they complained that whatever color it was it took five coats to get it to cover the Dark Grey, they were not happy with that, there are scads of reports from other ships hand repainting in 5S Sea Blue that report the exact same thing it didn't cover worth crap)

As far as the Turret colors, yes they were Red, Turrets #1,2 & 4 had insignia red turret tops confirmed, we have the US Navy orders in hand that made it happen and US Navy photographic proof that it was carried out long before the attack... (after the orders were issued, there are official photos showing the Arizona with a different color on her turret tops that cannot possibly be cause by anything other than a different color... Put two and two together...

Great modeling job, fantastic showing of the results of your weathering techniques, unfortunately they are incorrect for the ship and the time period you have depicted...

Good Morning, Michał & Egilman I struggle with the right expression for the artistry/weathering of finish on your work, Michał. I think that it just brings the subject to life with so much depth and troubles me that I will never see it first hand but thanks so much for sharing the photos. (please post more) I find interest in Egilman's research knowledge and hope he will finish the USS Arizona in the proper colours for comparison. Thanks to you both, Logan Post Script: NARA: U.S. National Archives and Records Administration
