Lancia Super Delta Liatti 1992 Rally New Zealand
Even got those tiny PE windshield brackets on. For anyone who hasn't tried a wax pencil for applying microscopic pieces; they work the treat. No sticking to fingers and no launching into oblivion like with tweezers.

Got to try out these 3D printed fasteners. They look really nice.....if you can get them off the "sprue" without them breaking in half.
Knocked out the extra teeth....

The smaller details.....
The kit decals are closer to maroon than red. Originally, I tried using Testors Dark Red, which was a perfect match, but that shit was SO hard to work with, either out of a rattle can or by airbrushing. Ultimatley, I wound up using Tamiya TS8, Italian red undercoated with TS17 aluminium, to make it a little darker and a little flatter. Seems to have worked. I think this car has close to a hundred decals all over it! Liatti certainly had some sponsorship coin to work with.
I love this decal! It reminds me of the newspaper "scene" in Mike Tysons Punch Out! I can hear that 8 bit music in my mind!

bossy122A little tip for anyone building one of these kits: wrestle the body onto the chassis BEFORE applying decals. Amazingly, with all the handling I did during the wrestling match, only one decal fell victim to my limited spiderman like sticking powers in my fingers ( not quite sticky enough to climb walls, sadly).

Will you cut the the front bumper vent's stripes? they shouldn't be there.

bossy122Yknow, I had noticed the "stripes" with the holes and wondered what was supposed to go on those. If you hadn't mentioned it, it would have completely escaped my attention. I also missed the call out in the instructions to remove the little lights ( or reflectors) on the front fenders and the Lancia shaped bit on the window separator. Goodness! I really should pay closer attention!
I assume you're asking about the red pinstripe on the grill. I painted that entire piece red then put Bare Metal Foil over it and cut along the insides with an Xacto to uncover the red.

bossy122There are a few 3D printed front grilles out there that have separated all the parts to make painting the 3 different colors easier. The problem I had with the foil is that I can never get that stuff to lay down smoothly.

bossy122One thing that bugged me with this kit is how "shallow" the seam lines are. I wasn't able to fill them all in with Panel Line paint.
