Thanks, now to find a better application..........this su-76 is going to be posed with the tristar marder....the brutal simplicity of the su 76 should contrast nicely with the german engineering of the marder........
By the way...I noticed that there are an awful lot of aircraft enthusiasts here......one of these days I'm going to make it to the US airforce museum which is about a mile from where I live (Wright Patterson Air Force Base) and I'll post a whole bunch of pics..

Somewhat of an old post, I know 😉 but if you still want to know what it says (said?) on the back of the Marder, read on 😉

The text they painted on the back says:

"Jungs holt fast"

Unfortunately for them, that makes no sense whatsoever! At least, not if they were trying to say something in German 😉

What I guess they want to say is (roughly translated):

"Guys, hang in there!" or "Guys, stand your ground!".

So, the text they should have painted on is:

"Jungs halt fest"

However, I'm not sure if that would make sense either? German is not my native tongue, so I'm not sure if this would translate into the "hang in there" / "stand your ground" idiom?

I guess I would rather expect something like "Jungs standhalten!" 🙂

Anyway, probably overthinking this piece of text way too much 😛 you know what it says now 😉 👍

Hi John,
actually "Jungs holt fast!" ist the correct spelling. It is a Northern German dialect. Your English translation is ok, I think. Our Northern expert Holger should be able to confirm...

...you called my name, Frank?;)

"Jungs holt fast" could surely be north german dialect! It means something like: Guys, hold the position or Guys hold the line!

LOL! I sure didn't see that coming, i.e., that it was actually correct spelling 😛 I have a feeling those Russians that painted it on didn't either 😉 I think they were just lucky it all works out 😄 hahaha!

Thanks for clarifying that Frank and Holger 👍 👍 much appreciated and another lesson learned, which is always a good thing! 🙂

For those that are interested and/or didn't know, the Marder in the photograph is in the "Museum of the Great Patriotic War" in Moscow (en.wikipedia.org/wik..atriotic_War,_Moscow)

And yes! Sorry it took so long, James, but I wasn't a ScaleMate back then 😉 Otherwise you'd have known much sooner 😉

And to get back on topic: James, you've got some very seriously good looking models in your albums!! Really great! I especially like the Marder in this album and the Hetzer you've done! Awesome! 👍 👍

couldn't say, but I wouldn't want to be the driver in the SU-76, he's trapped in what is essentially a steel box.........I suppose he could exit the front, but good luck with that!

Album info

The cantankerous MiniArt Su-76 is about half way done (winter wash scheme) and I'm starting to think about the Tristar Marder that will accompany it...I've tentatively decided on the scheme in the attached jpeg......
Question: What does it say on the back of the Marder?
