De Havilland Mosquito NF. Mk.II
Start of my next project Mosquito NF MkII
All parts in the box. Still old tooling despite the new box, but not too bad.
Flight deck is plain and simple.
Scratch build a platform behind the navigators seat to cover up the emptyness and create a place for radio equipment
Works out fine with some Evergreen.
Testfit to make sure fuselage halves still fit.
Touch of interiorgreen. I used humbrol 78 as a close match
Radio equipment partly from the kit and from my sparepart box
Looks ok for me. Pilot and navigator figures will be added later
Painting started of the 1:72 scale figures. Next to the Mosquito flight crew I'm also working on the Airfix RAF emergency set, so these figures are taken care of at the same time
Main landing gear doors show some serious ejector pin marks. As they are visible I had to fill them in with putty and sand them smooth
Main landing gear. rather fiddely job to work on.
Each wing contains a landinglight which has to be put in place before assembly of the winghalves. I've put in the glazing and on the inside a small piece of Bare metal foil does the trick.
Landinglight seen after the wing is fixed together
Working on the crew of my Mosquito. I use one of the crewmembers left over from my Airfix Defiant project.
The other one is from the Mosquito kit itself, so I will have two guys with full legs.
Also my first go with the new oilbrusher from Mig
Looks like a mascara set, but it really works clean and precise. Keep in mind this is oilpaint, so it takes longer to dry.
Results are fine. Bare in mind this is 1/72 scale
So, started out working on the main landing gear, which as stated is quit fiddely.
To prevent the propshaft falling backwarts after closing the engine cowling, I decided to put a little angled strip right behind it. This makes sure I can fit the propellor later in good fashion without the risk of dropping the small pin in the cowling
slowly getting there
Two wings allmost ready
super fine size rigging wire from Ushi van der Rosten
Shows to good effect in 1/72 scale
And finaly ready on concrete display

Hello Ferry, beautifully built. I have already built this kit, you can find it under projects 😉

Thank you Christian. I've looked at your build as well and looks wonderful too. Nice to see that we can make a nice model from an older kit as well. By the way, your other night fighters are great too.
