G'day Mate, I see what you mean about the white out of register, especially around the roundels and fin flash. I'd suggest the best way around that problem is like you say, make a white backing piece and then a color version. I see a lot of companies doing it that way. I've never seen the orange type of paper you have in your pic before.

G'day Michael, thanks for your reply.

Those tests are just printed on some left over card I had from a job to see what the fit and finish would be like. The actual decal sheets should be arriving today so if I get a chance I'll try my luck running it through the press.

Yes doing two decals may be the way to go... Although I'd still like to try doing the reverse decal if I can just figure out what type of adhesive DEKL'S use over the top of the decal to make it stick!

they look pretty good, and the recreation of the hasegawa ones, look better than the original 🙂

Album info

This little project started out as a need to replace old decal sheets I have in some aging kits as well as replace some missing sheets from other kits I've been given.

Being a graphic artist by trade and having access to a production printer that can print white I figured I'd give it a go.

The only catch with these types of printers is the 5th colour is applied after the CMYK inside the machine. In order to lay the white down under the colour the sheet needs to be put through the press twice. The big issue with this is registration - the CMYK lining up precisely over the already printed white. It's usually fine for normal production work like business cards, brochures, invites etc where everything is larger but with decals the detail is very fine so any slight movement will result it white showing through one side of the artwork... as can be seen in the test sheets I printed on the orange card.

So to get around this I wanted to try printing the decal in reverse, with the white layer over the top of the C
