Eduard Fokker E.iii - build.
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/6/8/6/586686-32952-76-720.jpg)
The basic cockpit. Grey and white primer.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/6/8/7/586687-32952-86-720.jpg)
This stitching is nice but probably will need removing. Very tricky to paint in.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/6/8/8/586688-32952-24-720.jpg)
Basic cockpit components.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/6/8/9/586689-32952-97-720.jpg)
Adding some basic colours and varnishing.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/6/9/0/586690-32952-84-720.jpg)
Some basic weathering. Bit heavy handed. The varnish hadnt properly set on the metal finish. Oh well, ill tidy it up later.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/6/9/1/586691-32952-13-720.jpg)
Making a start on some PE parts. Very nice but sooo small.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/6/9/2/586692-32952-49-720.jpg)
Bit in the dark here with rudder control mechanism. It should fit behind the foot rest but it doesent really fit? Instructions not much help with this.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/2/5/1/588251-32952-77-720.jpg)
Adding in more of the metal internal framework. I have no idea what that big brass knob is for? Counterweight for the prop?
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/2/5/2/588252-32952-39-720.jpg)
Quite a nice four part seat belt.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/2/5/3/588253-32952-24-720.jpg)
The throttle control is also quite nice, but so small and pretty much hidden once the lid goes on.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/2/5/4/588254-32952-18-720.jpg)
A fair line up on the top of the fuselage seam.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/2/5/5/588255-32952-77-720.jpg)
Really not so good underneath. Thats going to take a bit of work. Fortunately the PE stitching will cover most of the seam.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/9/7/6/588976-32952-65-720.jpg)
Some fairly light sanding has taken out the center line fairly well. Shame about the gap around the fuel tank cover.
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/9/7/7/588977-32952-89-720.jpg)
A bit of hard sanding has taken out most of the joint. Some clamps would of really helped solve this. On the wishlist now.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/9/7/8/588978-32952-35-720.jpg)
Very little internal detail can be seen once the cockpit is joined up.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/9/7/9/588979-32952-81-720.jpg)
What you can see though is fairly nice. The fit is extremely tight. Not sure about that map ...
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/9/8/0/588980-32952-28-720.jpg)
And on with the PE stitching. Im not so sure about that. It seems to all stick out a bit too much. Maybe it will sit in better after painting.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/9/8/1/588981-32952-88-720.jpg)
The stitching certainly does sort out the seam joint problem.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/1/1/5/590115-32952-77-720.jpg)
First base coat of canvas and grey. Diluted 50/50 thinners.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/1/1/6/590116-32952-17-720.jpg)
Three coats for the canvas finish. White 80%. Yellow 19%, Red 1%.
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/1/1/7/590117-32952-51-720.jpg)
Gloss varnished for decals and initial weathering.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/7/1/3/593713-32952-82-720.jpg)
The decals went on very nicely indeed. The fuselage wraparound is in four parts so tricky to line up. Its a little bit out but you have to look very close.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/7/1/4/593714-32952-12-720.jpg)
The front landing gear is a bit odd. You have to stick on the thicker sections separately. These just dont fit very well
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/7/1/5/593715-32952-10-720.jpg)
So on with some Plasto using a scalpel. Sanded up pretty well.
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/7/1/6/593716-32952-26-720.jpg)
RAF Green 68 enamel wash highly diluted to simulate mould. Just dribbled on and then the centres removed.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/7/1/7/593717-32952-54-720.jpg)
A brown wash of 'Dark Earth' using a wide brush.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/0/8/9/595089-32952-70-720.jpg)
I was in two minds as to adding the wavy effect on the nacelle. Its quite subtle and hard to do well. Varies a lot on the viewing angle. After a little experimenting was fairly happy with this.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/0/9/0/595090-32952-30-720.jpg)
The PE part for the piston rods really adds some nice detail. There is also one on the back which is difficult to see. Broke a few in the process but patched it up ok.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/0/9/1/595091-32952-98-720.jpg)
The sanding on the legs turned out ok in the end. Thats the way to go. Trying a little experiment for the rigging with stretched sprue
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/0/9/2/595092-32952-46-720.jpg)
Thats the main PE parts in on the undercarriage. Lost a part along the way so had to adapt a bit of PE sprue.
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/0/9/3/595093-32952-93-720.jpg)
Adding in the lower wheel section. Looks pretty flimsy but its actually fairly strong once its all assembled.
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/1/0/0/595100-32952-88-720.jpg)
All in all im fairly happy with that rigging. The streched sprue is a bit over scale but the idea is sound, if fiddly. An alternative to turnbuckles.
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/3/8/8/600388-32952-92-720.jpg)
Wings stuck on. Really worth trying to get the wings flush with the fuselage. The two mounting holes are really not sufficient to hold the weight of the wing. Fell off several times later on.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/3/8/9/600389-32952-74-720.jpg)
A little experiment with hand made stretchers. The PE ones are ok but rather flat.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/3/9/0/600390-32952-98-720.jpg)
Painted up - I think thats going to work out ok. Its a bit more interesting than just EZ line on its own.
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/3/9/1/600391-32952-30-720.jpg)
Matt varnish to seal the fuselage up.
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/3/9/2/600392-32952-31-720.jpg)
Adding in more PE. Love the gun feed and bullets. The little wing compass is nice too. Starting the upper rigging.
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/3/9/3/600393-32952-50-720.jpg)
Better view of the PE instruments.

Hi Cuajete. Not done any Eduard kits for a while. Mainly Airfix of late. Mssing those alignment holes a bit but it all adds to the fun. Welcome. Odd but no one seems to have built this kit on SM before so im a bit in dark.

Hi Ricardo. Yes I saw that and you made a brilliant job of it. You should do the Airfix BE2c. Its great little kit as well.Did it a few months back. Please dont expect too much from my build. Just working on the interior which is pretty cramped but its coming on. As ever you can hardly see any of it after assembly so I wont fret too much.

Pretty much done with the cockpit interior. Very cramped indeed. Quite like the PE seat harness.

Great looking Fokker, Mike! The metal effect at the front of the fuselage turned out very nice!

Thanks Gorden. Yes that metal effect is a little elusive. I think its a tempering effect in the metal casting on the actual aircraft. Its really varies with the lighting. Some have it others do not.

Not built any Eduard Profipacks for a while so looking forward to diving into this kit. Two very nice PE frets with the kit. Not sure how that PE stitching will work out. Thats going to be very tricky to paint. Also going to have a go at doing the swirly metal pattern on the cowling.
