AREA 88: F-5A FREEDOM FIGHTER (SHIN)
![Album image #1 Album image #1](/albums/img/5/0/0/670500-26441-58-720.jpg)
A very nice box... big!
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/5/0/2/670502-26441-44-720.jpg)
The spures have a bit of flash, but not unusual considering the age of the molds.
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/5/0/1/670501-26441-35-720.jpg)
As always, cockpit first.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/5/0/3/670503-26441-91-720.jpg)
The decals fit nice and cleanly... good news!
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/5/0/9/670509-26441-81-720.jpg)
The fit is a bit suspect... putty will be needed.
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/5/0/8/670508-26441-49-720.jpg)
After a bit of putty and sanding, it's looking a lot cleaner.
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/5/1/0/670510-26441-48-720.jpg)
Not quite clean enough. I can still see a bit of a seam... how much do I care?
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/2/7/3/674273-26441-34-720.jpg)
A first coat of light brown... I wonder how much of the undershading will be retained once I'm done.
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/5/6/3/674563-26441-88-720.jpg)
First camouflage coat. As I suspected... the undershading is already disappearing.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/4/0/2/683402-26441-84-720.jpg)
Second camouflage done... now for some aluminium undercarriage bits.
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/4/0/1/683401-26441-42-720.jpg)
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/4/0/0/683400-26441-96-720.jpg)
Hmmm... somethings missing... oh, yeah. The cockpit!
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/9/9/6/684996-26441-59-720.jpg)
Weathering complete... now just some decals to add.

Since I'm working on Shin's F-5E... and everyone seems all excited about F-5s for the Aggressor GB, I thought I'd give the F-5A a try as well. It's neat to work on an F-5E and F-5A side by side... you can really see some of the differences.

I changed the nozzle and it seems to blowing less bubbles. It's still a bit temperamental though. I haven't quite ruled out user error on all of the problems yet, so I haven't been planning an upgrade... but I think one will come eventually.

What sort of airbrush do you use. Have you tried sharpening the needle

AAAAAnnnd... we're all done with this one too. An ancient kit, but still better than the more recent Hobby Boss F-5E in my opinion. Very interesting to do both the F-5A and F-5E side by side as a duo build. Somehow just looking at pictures doesn't quite show off the differences as having both of them right in front of you.

Interesting that you like the Esci better. Regardless, it looks great!

Pretty big scale for you Greg! Should be interesting just how much detail you can get into this sucker!
