Su-22 Walkaround - Hungary, 2019

This Su-22 was repainted by the museum, so the colors are not completely accurate with how the aircraft looked during its active period. 

Dummy Vympel R-60 missiles with IR seeker ('Aphid') and B8 80 mm rocket launchers plus external drop tanks mounted. The black stripes mark that the missile is only good for the ground staff to practise mounting and unmounting. 

In Hungarian this kind of setup is called "Harci Marci", armed to its teeth. 

Note the kyrillic stenciling in Russian. Not a problem, Russian was a mandatory language in Hungarian schools during the cold war era. 

The fuel tank has an almost smoked salmon color due to discoloration by UV radiation from the sun. 

It kind of looks fish-like too. 

The join where the outer wing swivels into the inner part. See, this is just a narrow slit, not at all as cavernous as modeled by some model makers. Particularly the horrible Plastyk version. 

Hungarian Su-22 M3's were equipped with Tumansky engines, hoping that they would be interchangeable with the engines in the MiG-23's. They weren't. But this is the reason for the Hungarian Fitters to have a slightly more chubby rear.
