Treadwell Repair Droid
Primed and sanded main body
Primed superstructure, arms and head pieces
The rollers and treads were printed attached to the side of the body, and you couldn't see through the treads below the main body. Therefore I cut the treads off both sides, sanded them back and opened them
Comparison of opened out tread to the other just cut off the body
The body is hollow, with no bottom
I added a base plate from sheet styrene
The whip aerial at the back looked a bit thick so I cut away part of it and added steel wire (I also later added a bit of brass tube over the bottom part of the wire)
All the parts painted and ready for assembly. I've made some axles and added them through holes drilled in the body
Group shot with R2-D2 and R4-D5 to show scale

This is a 3D printed kit of the Treadwell droid from the original Star Wars. Made by Figureworks (I think they are only on Facebook), its a nice simple kit but it was a limited run, so I'm not sure if its still available. I made some modifications to it as I didn't like the way the treads were molded to the main body. It was built mid last year but I only just took the final photos.
