My first WW2 model...part of small GB with some good modeling friends 👍!
2 October 2020, 16:57

Welcome Jim and Roland...!
@Jim, I saw your 109, absolutely a stunner!
@Roland, I still have the Tomcat on the bench but I wanted to make for the first time a WWII plane, this iconic plane is beautiful with great color schemes! What's your planned scheme?
3 October 2020, 20:25

The Emil is one of my all time favorite aircraft. Really nice work so far Jos 👍
4 October 2020, 17:04

Oh boy, what´s happening to the world now...?! Hope you don´t make a habit out of this!! 😄
It looks great so far though, enjoy! 👍 And with the Cat in the background, it´s still open for a hypothetical Final Countdown II "Splash the Jerrys!" scenario!😉
4 October 2020, 18:18

Good job, Jos! For me the Emil is also the most beautiful of all 109s! I recently built an E-4. Galland's machine in 1:32! Your cockpit has turned out nice. I'm curious about your further construction progress - so far I like that a lot. Nice work that you show 🙂
4 October 2020, 18:28

Looking great Jos. I've got a Hasegawa E variant I need to get around to finishing. I think I'm going to do Galland's mount.
6 October 2020, 23:28

Great start Jos! No doubt it will be a stunner coming from your hands. Good to have you in our small GB 🙂
7 October 2020, 08:20

@James; this is really my first ww2 propeller plane and I have to say I enjoy building it! I also looked into the history of this iconic plane, along with the Spitfire two top aces...👍. Glad to have you here mate...!
@Erik; our 'small' GB should definitely be continued!
@Slavo; I just needed a quick win, the Cat took so much time. When this German former excellent fighter is ready, I will continue with my F-14. But no worries my friend...my preference and belief remains with the 4th gen fighters 😉
@Christian; many thx...I didn't know that they call the E version 'Emil'! I admired you Bf for a moment, what a beautiful model and fantastic reference for my build. Glad to have you on board!
@Nathan; thank you Nathan, what scale do you have? You should definitely take a look at Christiaan Kohl, who has built a Galland, in a word ... awesome!
@Roland; thx mate, I just needed a quick build where I also see quick results...🙂 I don't think that it will be a sprint, more a short walk in the park where I enjoy the moment as much as possible...haha!
7 October 2020, 21:08

Looking nice Jos! I have the 1:48 scale. Yes I saw Mr. Kohl's lovely 1:32 bird 🙂
8 October 2020, 19:22

Thanks Nathan!
Ready with camo scheme, I used the RLM colors from Gunze...real authentic. Had some challenges to air-brush the mottling, but I am satisfied.
10 October 2020, 13:28

Jos! It is and will be exciting. Nice work. I am very curious to see how it will continue! Only good things can come out in the end. Keep it up 😉
10 October 2020, 15:48

Thanks Christian, as my first WW2 prop kit Iam also exciting to build this kit 😉 So far so good...
10 October 2020, 18:08

Oh, jos landed in WWII too, strange times indeed here on scm😉 Looking fantastic, great job! 👍
10 October 2020, 19:18

Whoa, strange times indeed! Hmm, I have a couple 109s too. How crazy would it be if all three of us (you, Daniel, and I) were doing WWII Axis aircraft? LOL
Oh, and btw, you are off to a great start man!!!
10 October 2020, 20:07

Great job here Jos - the irregular pattern is a feast for the eye 👍 Looking forward to the yellow nose, the color looks fab on the tail!
11 October 2020, 06:51

Looks to be progressing nicely Jos and great job on the mottling camouflage 👍
11 October 2020, 18:36

Thanks Daniel, Michael, Slavo, Nathan, James, Roland, Clifford and (109 GB mate) Erik. Much appreciate your kind words and comments, I really do...!
@Michael...I challenge you to start also with a 109...LOL, for sure that would also become a stunner, definitely 😉
Finally the nose has it RLM04 color on it, so cool...I love already this beautiful scheme... 😄
13 October 2020, 03:16

Starting with the decals... made a big mistake with them, do you know what...?
13 October 2020, 19:14

Man that looks good! I don't know enough about Luftwaffe WW2 aircraft to spot the error... but, you have me thinking hard about my next project... should I go with the original plan or join you with a 109??? hmmm...
13 October 2020, 20:41

Wait, I need to hear the original plan first^^
Only difference to your cover-pic I can spot are the Kill-Marks...but I have no WWII clue as well😉
13 October 2020, 21:28

Join us Michael...the thousand and one color schemes are so diverse. With your qualities, and an 109 from your hands will be a feast for the eyes...👍!
13 October 2020, 21:30

I reversed the crosses for the top and bottom ... so stupid of me!
13 October 2020, 21:32

Yep...jackpot, it's getting late...😉 Iam now trying with tape to remove them...hopefully 🤔
13 October 2020, 21:38

Daniel and Jos, the original plan was a Jolly Rogers Super Hornet. If I do a 109, I want to do something a little different, and I have found a unique scheme I really like for the Hasegawa Friedrich kit I have... so I will need to quickly acquire certain decals and paint if I go that route.
Jos, BTW, even with you pointing that out I still don't see it. LOL
14 October 2020, 01:00

It looks brilliant Jos, hope you can fix your decal problem. @Michael, I bet a 109 from you would be a masterpiece.
14 October 2020, 01:12

uh those decals were not leaving by themselves I see, that sucks...but nice restoration!
16 October 2020, 18:11

Checking in 👍 🙂 What a beauty and the details in the cockpit!
Did you consider mask-painting the crosses?
16 October 2020, 22:03

Once done repairing you'll be a happy man Jos. Those crosses needed to be correct! 😄
17 October 2020, 07:02

Thanks, Michael, Clifford, Daniel, Sergej, Christian, and Erik...nice to see and read how my project is appreciated by y'all, absolutely awesome!!
@Michael: If you're going to start with your Jolly Rogers Super Hornet, I was already planning to make an F/A-18A of the Bloodhounds ... do I hear a Hornet GB ... haha LOL...😢
@Erik: Oh absolutely otherwise I would have regretted it if I had not placed them the other way around ... thank you very much for the Germanic crosses you sent, a real modeling friend!
@Sergej: I have to admit that I didn't feel like masking😎, luckily but otherwise I would have had to tape everything again... 😄
I decided to restore the wrongly placed decals, this took me extra time that I could actually have used elsewhere in this project.
17 October 2020, 19:58

Modelers, I have created a Messerschmitt Bf 109 Group Build, as a lot of mates are doubting whether they want to build a fantastic WW2 Axis fighter, this way we can enjoy each other's projects ...!
Scalemates Messerschmitt Bf 109 Group Build 2020 (1. Oktober til 31. Desember, )
17 October 2020, 20:39

Tnx for creating the GB Jos, good timing also for us slow ones 👍
Must say you just set a top standard with your Emil.
17 October 2020, 21:24

That's for sure, how are we supposed to beat that one. Looking Gourgeous.
17 October 2020, 23:19

Fine work there Jos & a nice save on the decal correction. Since you have the 109 GB going, I guess I need to get those Galland decals rush ordered... 🙂
18 October 2020, 02:55

Thx guys, much appreciate your kind words...it's motivates me to continue in the GB initiated by me! I've never build a prop before and now some of the finest modelers here on SCM are joining...absolutely awesome, again thx guys 👍!
My Bf-109...I added a few cables/pipes (I don't know how you call those things) for the brakes on the landing gear! Couple of days no benchtime, doing some quality time with my wife... 😄
20 October 2020, 19:44

Hi Jos, what is going on here? Great work, very nice so far. This will become a real beauty one😉
23 October 2020, 03:36

Thanks Clifford, Stefan and Christian, I've complete the pit and it's time to place the canopy...
23 October 2020, 16:23

Looking great Jos! 👍
After seeing all these 109 builds I'm really tempted to start one myself. Got a 109G in the stash.
Great initiative with the group build btw. 👍
23 October 2020, 19:51

Thx Bjorn, just start with your 109 and join the GB...let's have fun 👍!
Starting with the weathering...
24 October 2020, 21:49

Restored the upper left wing cross...it doesn't get any better than this!
26 October 2020, 19:53

When masking the Leading Edge Flaps to spray the inside RLM 02, I accidentally stuck a piece of tape over the decal. The cross was damaged and have restored it with black and white paint...😄
26 October 2020, 20:47

Nice save Jos! Hate when that happens, had to do that myself a couple of times. You may already know this, but I found that using sticky notes to mask over decals always prevents the decal from coming up if I need to mask over already applied decals. Works great and the adhesive of the notes is not tacky enough to pull decals up. Sometimes I put tape over the notes if I have a large area to mask so the note just protects the decal area.
26 October 2020, 21:07

Tnx Jos, you restored it very well!
Michael, good tip, so simple yet I've never thought of it 🙂
27 October 2020, 06:27

Thx Michael, Clifford, Sergej and Christian...I really appreciate your kind words!
@Michael...I know the trick with the sticky notes, I wanted to fast...😄, next time😉👍
Tonight I finished the wash, I used a very good stuff...the Dark Wash from Mig Production...! I covered it with a thin layer of gloss and tomorrow some weathering with oils...
27 October 2020, 22:16

Looking fantastic Jos and hopefully we will see some more WW2 props from you😉👍
28 October 2020, 00:45

Agree looking good, It is going to be a beauty. Hope to prime mine tomorrow.
28 October 2020, 00:47

That wash really made her come alive! Can't wait to watch down the final stretch now!
28 October 2020, 00:57

Most impressive Jos, I agree with Sergej. I would expect nothing less.
29 October 2020, 01:48

Thanks a lot mates...great comments from great builders, awesome...👍!!
Almost ready...did some weathering with oils, covered it with a matt/satin coat. Tomorrow some chipping with color pencils...
30 October 2020, 20:22

Great work mate!! You are the first of the gang who's ready! Your befje looks like a bad MF.
31 October 2020, 16:34

Fantastic job mate! The weathering is very nice! Hope you will build more non-jet models 👍
31 October 2020, 18:29

Jos, Congratulations! Very well looking Emil! Good work mate !!!!!!
31 October 2020, 20:02

Many thanks, Eelco, James, Roland, Nathan, Bjorn, Erik, Christian, Sergej, Mirko, Michael, and Daniel...absolutely great comments from great modelers! It was a real thrill to build a WW2 plane, never done it before. It was also a quick build, just in one month...that's absolutely great for my mojo 😉
I'll definitely build more WW2 propellor planes, but first I've to finish this year my other two projects which are still on my shelf of doom 😄, an F-14A Tomcat from Tamiya and a Brasilian Super Tucano from Hobbyboss!

Fantastic Emil mate, great build in every aspect!
Looking forward to your next prop build😉
1 November 2020, 10:41

Fantastic result Jos 👍
That Emil looks awesome, love the whole thing but the paint job and weathering is outstanding in my opinion 👍
1 November 2020, 14:23

Without any claims to be all too knowledgeable about the subject, this turned out really great! 👍 Love the color contrast, precise paint job and the weathering too!
Maybe a day will come for me to try something like this, if for nothing else than the chance to install a nice wire aerial!😉
1 November 2020, 14:24

Thanks, Daniel, Slavo, Sergej, Stefan, Clifford, and Neuling... I really appriciate your great comments!
I added the finishing pictures...enjoy!
Cheers, Jos 👍!
2 November 2020, 21:18

That is just beautiful! The restrained weathering is really just perfect. Hard to believe this is your first WWII aircraft!
4 November 2020, 20:10

Thanks Rui, Clifford and Michael...kind words from great modelers! It's true Michael...the nice thing about WW2 planes is that you can enjoy with the weathering, just like with tanks. Not in my schedule, but after this I'm going to build a Focke Wulf 190 A-6 ... I want to keep my mojo...😄😉
