Another commission done! Dioramas aren't normally my thing but this was fun. This build is to replicate an aircraft which technically doesn't exist...sort of...kinda...not yet...soon!!!
NZ3147 was previously used by the USAAF and was later used by the RNZAF from 1943 to 1948 and served in Quadalcanal in 1944 and continued the rest of its service life back in New Zealand at RNZAF Gisborne until 1945 when it was put into storage at Rukuhia. Most RNZAF aircraft were stored and later scrapped at Rukuhia following the war period and some were purchased and restored or simply purchased for private collections. NZ3147 was sold in 1948 where records end until 2019 when the beaten up remains along with another airframe were purchased by a restoration company at Ardmore in an effort to return them to flight. Given the state of the original airframe, a completely new fuselage and wing set has to be made however given that the new own has the original data plate from the aircraft, under CAA rules it can be classed as a "Rebuild" and can wear the original data place. 47 is due for completion in the next 3-4 years. The markings depicted on the model are a direct representation of the soon to be new aircraft.
