My second chopper.

Its the old Dragon kit, box art looks great but lots of details lacking when you get into the build.
![Album image #2 Album image #2](/albums/img/8/2/1/1187821-31781-10-720.jpg)
That's 1/144 scale for you!
![Album image #3 Album image #3](/albums/img/6/3/8/1187638-31781-11-720.jpg)
The parts are nicely moulded and little flash to clean up.
![Album image #4 Album image #4](/albums/img/6/4/0/1187640-31781-61-720.jpg)
Cockpit detail was sparse, to say the least! As everything is rather visible through the canopy glass I added seat protection to the sides and rear of the seats using card stock from my old business cards.
![Album image #5 Album image #5](/albums/img/6/3/9/1187639-31781-41-720.jpg)
![Album image #6 Album image #6](/albums/img/6/3/2/1187632-31781-53-720.jpg)
Instrument panel fabrication
![Album image #7 Album image #7](/albums/img/6/3/1/1187631-31781-59-720.jpg)
Panels & instruments installed.
![Album image #8 Album image #8](/albums/img/6/2/2/1187622-31781-99-720.jpg)
I couldn't fit the canopy because of interference from the fuselage top......
![Album image #9 Album image #9](/albums/img/6/2/0/1187620-31781-13-720.jpg)
So decided to cut the offending area - this also allowed me to open up the engine intakes later.
![Album image #10 Album image #10](/albums/img/6/2/7/1187627-31781-51-720.jpg)
Canopy now fits perfectly (I had dipped it in Pledge/Klear earlier to ensure maximum clarity).
![Album image #11 Album image #11](/albums/img/6/1/2/1187612-31781-97-720.jpg)
Drilling out the upper air intakes in progress.
![Album image #12 Album image #12](/albums/img/6/2/4/1187624-31781-65-720.jpg)
Opening up exhaust diffusers.
![Album image #13 Album image #13](/albums/img/6/1/4/1187614-31781-53-720.jpg)
Another missing auxiliary cooling hole
![Album image #14 Album image #14](/albums/img/6/2/1/1187621-31781-19-720.jpg)
Filled the gap and reattached the piece removed earlier.
![Album image #15 Album image #15](/albums/img/6/2/3/1187623-31781-79-720.jpg)
masking the canopy using my usual method - foil from soup/sauce flavor cube with inner waxed layer removed to expose adhesive sided foil.
![Album image #16 Album image #16](/albums/img/6/1/6/1187616-31781-75-720.jpg)
Acrylic filler applied.
![Album image #17 Album image #17](/albums/img/6/3/5/1187635-31781-57-720.jpg)
After painting, clearcoating, applying the few decals and another coat of dulled Pledge/Klear I started detailing the panel lines.
![Album image #18 Album image #18](/albums/img/6/4/9/1187649-31781-68-720.jpg)
Finish wasn't particularly dull so I used lots of weathering pigment to get a bit closer to the desired look.
![Album image #19 Album image #19](/albums/img/6/1/7/1187617-31781-95-720.jpg)
Cleaned the canopy glass of foil adhesive with alcohol.
![Album image #20 Album image #20](/albums/img/6/5/0/1187650-31781-25-720.jpg)
This is the look I was after ?
![Album image #21 Album image #21](/albums/img/6/3/3/1187633-31781-82-720.jpg)
IR jammer turret added. By this point in the build I had decided OOB would look pretty sparse, so the scratchbuilding commenced.
![Album image #22 Album image #22](/albums/img/6/3/4/1187634-31781-91-720.jpg)
Drilled more holes for rotor links and Air Data System arms.
![Album image #23 Album image #23](/albums/img/6/2/5/1187625-31781-50-720.jpg)
Runners from brass photo-etch sets utilised for the rotor links.
![Album image #24 Album image #24](/albums/img/6/3/7/1187637-31781-11-720.jpg)
Rotor links fixed in place; rather fiddly so lots of patience is required!
![Album image #25 Album image #25](/albums/img/6/1/1/1187611-31781-24-720.jpg)
More drilling.
![Album image #26 Album image #26](/albums/img/6/4/1/1187641-31781-32-720.jpg)
Various sensors and aerial added.
![Album image #27 Album image #27](/albums/img/6/2/6/1187626-31781-84-720.jpg)
Also fabricated a front screen wiper.
![Album image #28 Album image #28](/albums/img/6/0/9/1187609-31781-21-720.jpg)
ADS arms ready for fixing - lots of cyano used for all the extra bits.
![Album image #29 Album image #29](/albums/img/6/1/3/1187613-31781-71-720.jpg)
ADS Sensors coming along nicely.
![Album image #30 Album image #30](/albums/img/6/0/8/1187608-31781-17-720.jpg)
You need a steady hand and good eye for this!
![Album image #31 Album image #31](/albums/img/6/1/5/1187615-31781-92-720.jpg)
The missing sensors........
![Album image #32 Album image #32](/albums/img/6/1/0/1187610-31781-20-720.jpg)
Another dive into the PE sets found appropriate parts
![Album image #33 Album image #33](/albums/img/6/3/6/1187636-31781-92-720.jpg)
The naked gun! Definitely doesn't look ok, so more wire fettling is required.
![Album image #34 Album image #34](/albums/img/6/2/8/1187628-31781-62-720.jpg)
Looking better, also added the wire cutters to the landing gear.
![Album image #35 Album image #35](/albums/img/6/4/2/1187642-31781-30-720.jpg)
![Album image #36 Album image #36](/albums/img/6/4/3/1187643-31781-93-720.jpg)
![Album image #37 Album image #37](/albums/img/6/0/7/1187607-31781-64-720.jpg)
![Album image #38 Album image #38](/albums/img/6/0/6/1187606-31781-36-720.jpg)
![Album image #39 Album image #39](/albums/img/6/4/4/1187644-31781-82-720.jpg)
![Album image #40 Album image #40](/albums/img/6/4/5/1187645-31781-25-720.jpg)
![Album image #41 Album image #41](/albums/img/6/4/6/1187646-31781-91-720.jpg)
![Album image #42 Album image #42](/albums/img/6/4/7/1187647-31781-77-720.jpg)
![Album image #43 Album image #43](/albums/img/6/4/8/1187648-31781-40-720.jpg)
![Album image #44 Album image #44](/albums/img/9/7/1/1188971-31781-63-720.jpg)
Here's the Havoc for comparison - the tail rotor went MIA during one of the intercontinental moves ?
![Album image #45 Album image #45](/albums/img/9/7/2/1188972-31781-54-720.jpg)
Mil-28 was built in the early 90's, all gloss Humbrol, no Klear coats but at least by then I was using Micro Set/Micro Sol.
![Album image #46 Album image #46](/albums/img/9/7/3/1188973-31781-71-720.jpg)
I wasn't really into weathering back then, let's just say it dropped in from an airshow display ?
![Album image #47 Album image #47](/albums/img/9/7/4/1188974-31781-37-720.jpg)
Two variations on the same theme, in the end!
![Album image #48 Album image #48](/albums/img/9/7/5/1188975-31781-66-720.jpg)
That's it, folks!

Album info
It's the old and not-so-detailed Dragon kit which I bought many decades ago to sit beside the Havoc in my "Red Storm Rising" collection.
Planned to just do a quick OOB exercise, but as it progressed I couldn't resist adding here and there!
