Sikorsky S-51 Dragonfly - "Persil bleibt Persil"

Loaded the cabin interior... 

....with some PE parts, 

 

 

Fitting the Cockpit into the fuselage was okay,... 

...fitting the transparent nose part of the cockpit and the overhead windows was a challange, due to poor fit and the way how the construction is carried out.  

Quite alot of oversanding was neccessary to get a smooth transition from.... 

....the fuselage to the transparent glas part of the cockpit. 

After some sanding the bird received his primer coat. A bit of a rework here and there is needed before we can do the final paint job. 

I tryed out different techniques for paint application in the past. I found marbeling the best to get some depth and wearing to uniform colour. Starting the job with white... 

...followed by green and clear top coat. I guess stripes are always tricky to apply due to the massking efforts. Same here and 1/72 is not helping to make it easier. 

The most hated area of my build - the rotorhead. A mix of PE parts and plastic - it was a miracle to me how to joint them in a way that all parts to not dis-assemble when a fly would passing by. It took some time. Now it seems working, but one issue build in: the blades shifted and when PA glue was hard I had to figure out that the blades do not devide into equal thirds. 🙁 

Decaling started,
The film is thin and... 

...the decals went on smooth and without issues 👍 

Damn. Seems to get annoying routine - whenever I bring my models to the photostudio I screw it up. - again today.
Need an extra portion PA glue and a bit scratch as one tail rotor blade is gone.
