Revell 1/144 Airbus. 3rd model I've done. Unlike the first two, this model would not take the paint very well, it pooled up and completely came off the surface in parts. Clearly I need to properly clean the model with soapy water and use primer next time. Any other tips?

Roland - excellent point - on previous models I had done a far more diluted first and second layer.

David - thanks. Indeed I was rushing the paint job. Learning the hard way….. 😉

Hi,
For brush painting, I most often use Revell or Tamiya acrylic paints.
I don't use any primer. The adhesion of the paint even without a primer is sufficient, I know this for sure because I often use hair-chipping technology and ruthlessly rub the painted surface.
Before painting, I wash the surface of the model with isopropyl alcohol.
Adding a microscopic dose of dishwashing liquid to the paint reduces the surface tension of the paint, and it does not accumulate on the surface in separate drops but lays down in an even layer.
As Roland and David wrote, paint layers should be thin.

Vytautas - that is some excellent guidance. I will try that out.
