Great model, 2 questions, how is the fit and finish? is there a lot of sanding and filler required? and two, can it be easily built gear up OOB? thanks

fit is average, you will need to add putty from front canopy to the front fuselage and putty by the rear fuselage close to the tail and add putty by the intake. Surface finish is very nice lots of engrave panel line detail but very shallow so don't use primer or gloss coat since this will fill up the panel line detail, just use gloss paint then apply the pin wash then decals then clear flat to seal it. gear up is challenging since the gear door doesn't fit in close position for both front and back gear. lots of sanding mostly at the canopy to front fuselage and intake.

Oh ok, Thank you, I'm brand new to the hobby and I am somewhat nervous about messing this kit up thank you for your information, also do you mean I shouldn't use primer or clear coat I'm a bit confused about that considering every modelling blog I read says to use both could you clarify? And one last thing can I just cut off the "hooks" that attach the gear door to the opening and lay it flat like the 1/72 version or is more modification required?

thank you for the comments!
@Seyid, the primer is only used for the paint that doesn't adhere well to the surface of the plastic model, since Mr hobby paint adhere very strong to the plastic surface there is no need to primer it, also the matt finish of the primer will just make the surface problematic for decals, this is why you will need to gloss coat the surface before you can apply the decals to prevent silvering effect, but with the gloss paint like the Mr hobby H-57 gray there is no need to primer and gloss coat, saves you time and effort and easy clean up during panel line wash.

Album info

The model construction was very basic, just fill putty at the front canopy to front fuselage. The Revell decals have good fit to the model. The front canopy was deformed, maybe due to high volume manufacturing. The seat needed to be cut-off at the bottom to reduce the height and fit the canopy. The model was airbrushed with PS-290 airbrush, Mr hobby H-57 aircraft gray 50/50 mixed with leveling thinner, pressure at 25psi, Mr hobby gloss black 50/50 mixed with leveling thinner. The Tamiya grey wash was used on panel lines. Final coat of Mr hobby clear flat with 50/50 mixed of tamiya X-20A thinner resulted in very smooth flat finish.
