I picked up an 'Exotic MiGs' decal sheet from Blackbird Models for a different project and, having picked up Airfix's MiG-17F kit, I couldn't resist trying my hand at a West African livery. I also used Pavla's resin seat; my first time using resin parts, and it was certainly an improvement on the kit seat.
I've employed some artistic licence and built a 'cleaner' bird than the reference material indicates. This is largely because I actually quite like using stencil decals and don't have an airbrush to replicate patchy paintjobs.
The plane needs a lot more nose weight than the instructions indicate. You will need to get creative to avoid it sitting on its tail.
Spray primed, and painted with a mixture of Humbrol & Revell spray and brush paint. This was also my first time weathering using oil paints and it was fairly successful.
I enjoyed this build and am very happy with the results. I recommend this kit and the decal sheet.
