Any ideas on which Humbrol red to use for the tricolor?

14 & 60 ? Or 25 & 60?

Didn't think of 60. Thanks! 14 is my pick too for the blue.

Went through my stash. Got Revell's 32152 which might be too blue for a french blue. Humbrol 25 has a hint of purple which could be ok. I'll see if I can get my hands on a tin of Humbrol 14.
As for the reds, I have Humbrol 19 (too red), Humbrol 60 (a faint hint of orange there-kinda matches the overcast photo) and Humbrol 174 (rather dark). I'll make some paint chips to check them all out, or even better I'll paint pieces of paper cut in the shape of the tail.

Consider also the varnish, which usually darkens the colour a bit.
