Douglas A-1E Skyraider USAF 1st SOW 4407 CCTS
A-1E used at Hurlbert Field, FL for crew training

The USAF had received several Navy Douglas A-1E tandem-seat Skyraiders for the purpose of training crews for SOG groups heading for SEA. The A-1E mission was at an attack ground support gunship with the ability to carry great amounts and varieties of ordinance and to loiter for hours while waiting for a ground support mission. This model will represent one of those aircraft while at Hurlbert Field AFB, FL.

My friend Mike Grochowski worked on these and other aircraft while at Hurlbert and later a Danang AFV, RVN, and Takli RTAFB, Thailand. This project will be in his honor.
