So the Mercator was the first all resin kit I’ve done and turned out pretty good. Now to push the envelope — Iron Shipwrights 1/350 resin and photo etched kit of the Adams-class guided missile destroyer U.S.S. BARNEY DDG-6. Right away I see where this is going to be different beginning with a solid hour sorting out the DDG-6 parts and contemplating the number of partial and miscasting of resin parts. Another issue - the bubble bath that is the lower hull; this may drive me to a water display vice original stand alone....

Clearly I have a bit of a challenge out of the box. Originally intended to be displayed in classic style, the bubble bath fest lower hull is driving me to a seascape display

can't you just putty it? I haven't built a resin kit before.

Yeah a bit of Milliput and sanding will take care of those issues real quick.

putty for resin is different than styrene - the best actually is Bondo auto body filler. In this case it is also pernicious that I'm just pressing ahead with seascape instead and will team with another contemporary AAW ship

UPDATE - DECKHOUSE REPAIR
Iron Shipwrights DDG 6 Build...and right outta the box we have issues
-warped mainmast and support structure — scratchbuild new one
- bubbles in hull (lower side) - display in water diorama instead of full hull display
- chunk missing out of deckhouse - scratchbuild repair
- most of the small pieces are unrecognizable junk, so off to the aftermarket for suitable replacement parts. SMDH, nonexistent QA I guess...

Completed 1:1 drawing of replacement piece using instructions, photos and calibrated eyeball. used thin plastic to lay a foundation that replacement could lay on that relievies stress applied to the repair joint. It also filled a gap between the two deckhouses because i found the upper one was, surprise, warped....
