Model kits of the Draken in scale 1:72 are today almost impossible to find, so as I was casually surfing around at home, I was pleased to find a Hasegawa kit at the Czech Car-Model-Kit webshop, which I ordered immediately (that was in fact their last copy).
The kit is simply beautiful - crisp molding, thin and clear panel llines and a very nice design where the fuselage is split horisontally. The jet intakes are molded as separate pieces and the transparent parts look really clear and thin.
I also purchased a bunch of resin add-ons from Aires and a PE sheet from Maestro Models, since this kit really deserves some additional detail, mainly in the cockpit, but also the landing gear bay area. New decals too, I remember having read somewhere that the in-box decals are a bit thick.
I intend to build the F2 version with the characteristic blue-olive camouflage, where the blue almost faded to some kind of dark turquoise. Let's see how this goes...
For loadout I will just use the included twin external fuel tanks as the Drakens were seldom flying with anything but these in their lifetime (although they could carry two AIM-4 Falcon A/A missiles, or two rocket pods on the wing pylons).
