Thanks gents! Turned out to be a fair amount to wrestle with but pleased with the end result. Mark, I imagine the 1/32 version from HK fits better, if a lot more spendy. To be fair, this AMT isn't "bad" overall, just could use some more details I couldn't be bothered to add and some fit issues that weren't terrible, just tiresome to fix.

I remember building at least one set David but then painted the fire tender red. Having done a little research, for late Battle of Britain, I decided to paint it green and dark green more in keeping with tenders from that time. 👍

Decals on and figures supplied painted. I now declare this one completed. I painted the fire tender in non prototypical colours as it was a post 1945 vehicle. For the purposes of my dios etc. it is a 1940 tender painted in AFV 1940 colours of Khaki no 3 and Dark Green no 4. 🙂

The Gnat had the canopy added, masked and then primer applied (light grey). I have painted the yellow with 3 coats of Vallejo Model Air Medium yellow and 2 coats of Hataka BS Golden Yellow. Next will be the tail. 🙂

Now completed, this is a Folland Gnat from the Yellowjacks display team based at RAF Valley, Anglesey in 1964, a forerunner team of the Red Arrows. 🙂 The last photo is a picture of the actual aircraft.

@Mr D, I used a very light grey primer followed by Vallejo Model Air Medium Yellow and then Hataka Trainer Yellow x 2 coats over that. They went on better than I expected. 🙂

You may try fishing wire "UNI-Caenis 20 Den Black" for your next antennas wire : it is like spandex, has some elasticity, and doesn't need to be stretched so mast doesn't bend.
It is also very convincing for 1/72 : i can't see it if i don't wear my glasses...

I built this about 20 years ago Guy as a gift for a WW2 Horsa pilot who was a friend of my wife's family. He'd flown Horsas into Normandy and Arnhem. He loved the model and it sat in his living room for the rest of his days. It's a nice kit as I recall.

@ Neil, it is quite a nice kit considering its age. The fact that you gifted a Horsa model to an actual Horsa pilot veteran is something that must have been hugely gratifying. 👍
